Huliao Pond Introduction
A visit to Pinglin offers more than just buying tea and enjoying tea meals; you might as well venture into the mountains and walk on the suspension bridge to admire the dog-toothed terrain of Huliaotan. The dog-toothed terrain, named for its resemblance to dog teeth, is formed by the upward tilting of layers due to geological pressure, and the erosion by the Beishi River has left behind jagged sandstones from the fragile shale. With the construction of the Feitsui Reservoir upstream on the Beishi River, many dog-toothed formations have been submerged. However, by approaching Huliaotan and standing on the Huliaotan Suspension Bridge, you can still take in the stunning view of the dog-toothed terrain.
