Huliao Pond Introduction
A visit to Pinglin isn't complete without buying tea and enjoying tea meals. You might also want to venture into the mountains and take a walk on the suspension bridge to admire the dog-tooth terrain of Huliaotan. The dog-tooth terrain is named for its resemblance to dog teeth, formed from the upward pressure of tilted strata and the erosion of fragile shale by the Beishi River, which leaves behind jagged sandstone. With the construction of the Feicui Reservoir upstream of the Beishi River, many of these dog-tooth formations have been submerged. However, by approaching Huliaotan and standing on the Huliaotan Suspension Bridge, you can still enjoy the magnificent view of the dog-tooth terrain.
