Pinglin Old Street Introduction
Pinglin Old Street is approximately 200 meters long, centered around the local religious hub, Baoping Temple. Along the street, there are paper mache shops, snack stalls selling tofu, hardware stores, and tea houses, including the famous "Pinglin Baozhong Tea" known throughout Taiwan. The shops on the old street integrate Pinglin's tea culture, using Baozhong tea to create various creative snacks, such as tea dumplings, tea steamed buns, tea nougat, and tea oil noodles. Additionally, Pinglin's tofu is renowned for being made with local spring water, resulting in sweet and delicious tofu dishes. When visiting Pinglin Old Street, be sure to try the tea-based dishes and tofu, which will definitely satisfy your cravings. Starting from Pinglin Old Street and moving forward, you will pass by Pinglin Elementary School and Baoping Temple, which is the spiritual center for the people of Pinglin. Notably, due to the strong fragrance of tea that fills the old street, many barn swallows have been attracted to stay here, and you can almost see swallows' nests in every surrounding household, even surpassing the local population, making it truly a "Barn Swallow City."
