Jinxi Station Introduction
Pinglin is a renowned tea-producing area in northern Taiwan. Not only does it boast abundant natural resources, but it is also home to the "Jinxi Police Station," which dates back to the Japanese colonial period. This historical site has a history of over a century and is a must-visit spot for tourists who come to enjoy fishing and fern-viewing along the Jinqualiao River Trail. During the Japanese rule, a police station was established here for maintaining public order, collecting taxes, and monitoring dissent among the populace, marking its significance over the past hundred years. The Jinxi Police Station has now transformed into a private residence, with the main entrance slightly shifted to the left, yet its stone bricks, black tiles, and architectural style still retain the original Japanese aesthetic—simple yet elegant—allowing visitors to faintly sense the once-imposing atmosphere of the former police station.
