Shigongji Tail Mountain Hiking Trail Introduction
Shigongjiwei Mountain, located at the intersection of Pingxi, Pinglin, and Shiding Districts in New Taipei City, is the source of the Keelung River, Beishi Creek, and Xindian Creek. It is named for its resemblance to a Taoist priest's topknot (pronounced Shigong in Taiwanese) from a distance, and it is also known as Huoshaoliao Mountain, being the highest peak among the Shiding mountain range. Most visitors start their journey from the historic Nanshan Temple (commonly referred to as Xiangong Temple), where they can enjoy views of the sea of clouds, tea gardens, and Dashih Lake. By following the winding industrial road, one can reach the trailhead and easily ascend Shigongjiwei Mountain, which offers a 360-degree panorama of Pinglin, Jiufen, Shuangxi mountain ranges, and Beishi Creek. In the opposite direction, one can gaze at Emperor Temple, Qixing Mountain, Datun Mountain, Guanyin Mountain, and Taipei 101. It is suitable for hiking, enjoying sunrises, night views, and appreciating autumn scenery, making it a scenic path ideal for all ages.
