Shih Gong Jih Mountain Trail Introduction
Located at the junction of Pingxi, Pinglin, and Shiding districts in New Taipei City, Shigong Jiao Wei Mountain is the source of the Keelung River, Beishi River, and Xindian River. Its name comes from the mountain's shape resembling a Taoist priest's hair bun (pronounced as "Shigong" in Taiwanese) when viewed from afar. It is also known as Huo Shao Liao Mountain and is the highest peak in the Shiding mountain range. Most visitors start their journey from the historic Nanshan Temple (commonly known as Xian Gong Temple), where scenic views of the sea of clouds, tea plantations, and Dashih Lake can be enjoyed. By following the winding access road, one can reach the trailhead and easily ascend Shigong Jiao Wei Mountain, which offers a 360-degree panoramic view of Pinglin, Jiufen, the peaks of Shuangxi, and the Beishi River. In the opposite direction, you can enjoy distant views of the Emperor's Palace, Qixing Mountain, Datun Mountain, Guanyin Mountain, and Taipei 101. This trail is suitable for everyone, making it an ideal spot for hiking, watching sunrises, enjoying night views, and admiring autumn scenery.
