Shigongji Tail Mountain Trail Introduction
Located at the junction of Pingxi, Pinglin, and Shiding Districts in New Taipei City, Shigong Jiao Wei Mountain is the source of the Keelung River, Beishi River, and Xindian River. It is named for its resemblance to the hair bun of a Taoist priest when viewed from a distance (Shigong in Taiwanese), and is also known as Huoshaoliao Mountain. It is the highest peak among the Shiding Mountain Range. Most visitors begin their journey from the historic Nanshan Temple (commonly known as Xiangong Temple), where they can enjoy the view of the sea of clouds, tea gardens, and Dazhong Lake. By following the winding industrial road, one can reach the trailhead and easily ascend Shigong Jiao Wei Mountain, which offers a 360-degree panoramic view of the beautiful scenery of Pinglin, Jiufen, Shuangxi peaks, and Beishi River. In another direction, one can overlook the Emperor's Palace, Qixing Mountain, Datun Mountain, Guanyin Mountain, and Taipei 101. This hiking trail is suitable for all ages, offering opportunities for enjoying the sunrise, night views, and appreciating the autumn scenery.
