Dadong Mountain Introduction
Datong Mountain, located at the border between Shulin District in New Taipei and Guishan District in Taoyuan, is also known as "Hengkengzi" or "Guilun Mountain." Rising to an elevation of 405 meters, it is the highest point of the Linkou Plateau ridge and is listed as one of Taiwan's minor 100 peaks. The summit features a first-class triangulation point and a root point established by the Land Survey Bureau. Datong Mountain has several hiking trails, accessible from Shanjia, Shulin, Yingge, or Guishan. The most popular hiking route is the Qinglong Ridge - Datong Mountain traverse, which stretches nearly 3 kilometers, has a gentle and easy path, and allows for easy access to the 405-meter high triangulation point. At the summit, there is an observation platform with excellent views, offering panoramic vistas of the Linkou Plateau, Guanyin Mountain, the Datun Mountain Range, and the Xueshan Mountain Range. Visitors can also overlook the urban skyline of Shulin, Xinzhuang, and the greater Taipei area, as well as the high-speed rail tracks and Dahan River below. This site is an ideal spot for hikers, cycling enthusiasts, and photographers to enjoy the night scenery of the greater Taipei area. As the highest point of the Linkou Plateau, Datong Mountain is also vital for monitoring water conditions in the greater Taipei area. The Ministry of Economic Affairs' Water Resources Agency has established a water condition monitoring station here, collecting meteorological and hydrological data to keep a close watch on water level changes in the Tamsui River basin, transmitting real-time data to the flood control command center, making it a guardian for the residents of the greater Taipei area.
