Dadong Mountain Introduction
Dadong Mountain is located at the boundary between Shulin District in New Taipei City and Guishan District in Taoyuan City, also known as "Hengkengzi" or "Guilun Mountain." It reaches an elevation of 405 meters, making it the highest point of the Linkou Plateau ridge, and it is listed as one of Taiwan's minor 100 peaks. At the summit, there is a first-class triangulation point and a control point established by the Land Survey Bureau. Dadong Mountain has several hiking trails that can be accessed from Sanxia, Shulin, Yingge, or Guishan. The most popular hiking route is the Qinglongling-Dadong Mountain Traverse, which spans nearly 3 kilometers, featuring a gentle and easy path that allows hikers to easily visit the 405-meter triangulation point. At the top, there is a viewing platform with excellent visibility, offering panoramic views of the Linkou Plateau, Guanyin Mountain, the Datun Mountain Range, and the Xueshan Mountain Range, as well as a look down at the skylines of Shulin, Xinjuang, and New Taipei City, along with the high-speed rail tracks and Dahan River. This makes it an excellent choice for hikers, cyclists, and photographers who wish to appreciate the night scenery of New Taipei City. As the highest point of the Linkou Plateau, the Dadong Mountain’s elevation advantage makes it the ideal location for the Ministry of Economic Affairs Water Resources Agency to establish a water monitoring station that collects meteorological and hydrological data, closely monitoring the water level variations in the Tamsui River basin, and transmitting real-time data to the flood control command center, serving as a guardian for the residents of New Taipei City and Taipei City.
