Dadong Mountain Introduction
Datong Mountain, located at the junction of Shulin District in New Taipei and Guishan District in Taoyuan, is also known as "Hengkengzi" or "Guilun Mountain." With an elevation of 405 meters, it is the highest point of the Linkou Plateau ridge and is listed as one of Taiwan's Minor Hundred Peaks. At the summit, there is a first-class triangulation point and a control point established by the Land Survey Bureau. Datong Mountain has multiple hiking trails, accessible from Shanjia, Shulin, Yingge, or Guishan for climbing. The most popular hiking route is the Qinglong Ridge to Datong Mountain traverse, which stretches nearly 3 kilometers, featuring a gentle and easy-to-navigate path, allowing easy access to the 405-meter triangulation point. The summit has a viewpoint that offers excellent visibility, providing a panoramic view of the Linkou Plateau, Guanyin Mountain, Datun Mountain Range, and the Xueshan mountain range. It also overlooks the urban skyline of Shulin, Xinzhuang, and New Taipei City, alongside the high-speed rail tracks resembling a dragon and the Dahan River, making it a top choice for hikers, cyclists, and photography enthusiasts wishing to enjoy the night views of New Taipei. As the highest point of the Linkou Plateau, the Water Resources Agency of the Ministry of Economic Affairs has established a water monitoring station here, leveraging Datong Mountain's elevation advantages to collect meteorological and hydrological data, continuously monitoring water level changes in the Tamsui River basin and transmitting real-time data to the flood control command center, serving as a guardian for residents of New Taipei and Xinzhuang.
