Dadong Mountain Introduction
Datong Mountain is located at the junction of the Shulin District in New Taipei and the Guishan District in Taoyuan, also known as "Hengkengzi" or "Guilun Mountain." It stands at an elevation of 405 meters and is the highest point of the Linkou Plateau ridge, making it one of Taiwan's Minor 100 Peaks. The summit features a first-class triangulation point and a survey monument by the Land Survey Bureau. Datong Mountain offers multiple hiking trails, accessible from Shanjia, Shulin, Yingge, or Guishan. The most popular hiking route is the Qinglong Ridge - Datong Mountain traverse, which spans nearly 3 kilometers and is relatively easy to walk. Visitors can easily reach the 405-meter triangulation point, which is equipped with an observation platform that provides excellent panoramic views of the Linkou Plateau, Guanyin Mountain, the Datun Mountain Range, and the Xueshan mountain range. Hikers can also overlook the city skyline of Shulin, New Taipei City, as well as see the high-speed rail tracks and the Dahan River, making it a prime spot for mountain climbers, cycling enthusiasts, and photographers who wish to admire the night scenery of New Taipei City. As the highest point of the Linkou Plateau, the elevation advantage of Datong Mountain allows the Water Resources Agency of the Ministry of Economic Affairs to set up a water monitoring station here to collect meteorological and hydrological data. This station continuously monitors the water level changes in the Tamsui River Basin and transmits real-time data to the flood control command center, serving as a guardian for the residents of New Taipei City.
