Dadong Mountain Introduction
Dadong Mountain is located at the border between the Shulin District of New Taipei and the Guishan District of Taoyuan, also known as "Hengkengzi" or "Guilun Mountain." It has an elevation of 405 meters, making it the highest point of the Linkou Plateau ridge, and is listed as one of Taiwan's Minor 100 Peaks. At the summit, there is a first-class triangulation point and a land survey bureau reference point. Dadong Mountain features multiple hiking trails that can be accessed from Shan Jia, Shulin, Yingge, or Guishan. The most popular hiking route is the Qinglongling-Dadong Mountain traverse, which spans nearly 3 kilometers and is gentle and easy to walk, allowing visitors to easily reach the 405-meter triangulation point. The mountaintop has an observation platform with excellent views, offering panoramic vistas of the Linkou Plateau, Guanyin Mountain, the Datun Mountain Range, and the Xueshan Mountain Range. Hikers, cyclists, and photography enthusiasts can admire the night scenery of New Taipei City and Taipei City, along with the high-speed rail tracks resembling a dragon and the Dahan River. Due to its elevation, the Dadong Mountain Water Monitoring Station, established by the Water Resources Agency of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, is located here to collect meteorological and hydrological data and monitor water level changes in the Tamsui River basin, providing timely information to the flood control command center, serving as a guardian for residents in the New Taipei and Taipei areas.
