Datong Mountain Introduction
Dadong Mountain is located at the border between the Shulin District of New Taipei City and the Guishan District of Taoyuan City. It is also known as "Heng Keng Zi" or "Gui Lun Mountain," standing at an elevation of 405 meters, making it the highest point of the Linkou Plateau ridge and one of Taiwan's minor 100 peaks. At the summit, there is a first-class triangulation point and a geodetic benchmark from the Land Survey Bureau. Dadong Mountain offers multiple hiking trails, accessible from Shanjia, Shulin, Yingge, or Guishan. The most popular hiking route is the Qinglong Ridge to Dadong Mountain traverse, which spans nearly 3 kilometers and is gentle and easy to hike, allowing visitors to easily reach the 405-meter triangulation point at the summit. There is an observation platform at the top that offers excellent views of the Linkou Plateau, Guanyin Mountain, Datun Mountain Range, and the Xueshan mountain range. It also overlooks the city skyline of Shulin, Xinzhuang, and the dual Bắc region, as well as the high-speed rail tracks that resemble a long dragon and the Dahan River, making it a top choice for hikers, cyclists, and photography enthusiasts to appreciate the night views of the dual Bắc region. Being the highest point of the Linkou Plateau, the height advantage of Dadong Mountain allows the Water Resources Agency of the Ministry of Economic Affairs to establish a water monitoring station here to collect meteorological and hydrological data, constantly monitoring water level changes in the Tamsui River basin and transmitting real-time data to the flood control command center, serving as a guardian for residents of the dual Bắc region.
