Diao Mountain Historic Trail, also known as Wuyuan Cemetery Hiking Trail, stretches approximately 2,700 meters. Friends can casually stroll along the trail, not only to exercise but also to appreciate the beauty of the lush green mountains and the gentle waves of grass in the serene valley, evoking a sense of nostalgia. When spring arrives, flowers bloom among the cliffs, creating a breathtaking sight that attracts many visitors, and it was once poetically referred to as "Diao Mountain Spring Scenery" by literati in the past. The construction of Diao Mountain Historic Trail dates back to the 31st year of the Meiji Era (1898), when gold was discovered in the streams, leading to a journey up the Shumeiping Mountain in Ruifang to the Mudan Pit Mountain in Shuangxi, where gold veins were found. This prompted miners to flock to the area, and a light transport road was constructed for conveying minerals, as well as facilities like mining offices and medical stations. This route also became an essential path for ancestors traveling between Ruifang, Jiufen, Shuangxi, and Mudan for trade and work, where pedestrians were once a common sight. The trail is also associated with various romantic and tragic legends, such as the story of the Wuyuan Cemetery, which has multiple versions. Unlike the Jinzibei Historic Trail, there are no coverings along this ancient path, so visitors should remember to take sun protection measures when planning their visit.
