Diao Mountain Ancient Trail, also known as the "Wuyuan Cemetery Hiking Trail," is approximately 2,700 meters long. Friends can invite each other to stroll along the trail, not only to exercise but also to appreciate the beauty of the green mountains and swaying grass in the fragrant forested valleys, evoking a sense of nostalgia. In spring, the cliffs are adorned with blooming flowers, creating a breathtaking sight that attracts visitors, who once poetically referred to it as "Diao Mountain in Spring." The construction of Diao Mountain Ancient Trail dates back to the 31st year of the Meiji era (1898), when gold was discovered in the streams. It follows the path from Ruifang to Shumeiping Mountain and then to Shuangxi and Mudan Pond Mountain, leading to the discovery of gold veins. This attracted miners, who built a light railway for transporting minerals and established facilities such as a mining office and medical stations. The trail also became a vital route for early settlers traveling between Ruifang, Jiufen, Shuangxi, and Mudan to engage in trade and work, with people frequently traversing it. Moreover, tales of romance and tragedies, such as the story of the Wuyuan Cemetery, emerged from the mountains, with various versions existing. Unlike the Jinzibei Ancient Trail, there is little shade along this ancient path, so visitors should remember to take sun protection measures.
