Diao Mountain Old Trail, also known as Wuyuan Cemetery Hiking Trail, is about 2,700 meters long. It is a great place for friends to stroll and not only exercise but also enjoy the beauty of the green mountains and grass waves in the fragrant and secluded valleys, evoking a sense of nostalgia. When spring arrives, the cliffs bloom with abundant flowers, creating a breathtaking view that attracts visitors, which was once poetically described by literati as "Diao Mountain in Spring." The construction of Diao Mountain Old Trail originated in the 31st year of the Meiji era (1898), when gold was discovered in the streams. Following the source from Ruifang Shumeiping Mountain to Shuangxi Mudankeng Mountain, gold veins were discovered, resulting in a rush of miners and the construction of a lightweight transport road for transporting minerals, along with the establishment of mining offices and medical stations. This route also became essential for the ancestors traveling between Ruifang, Jiufen, Shuangxi, and Mudan for trade and work. In the past, the foot traffic was constant, and romantic yet tragic legends, like the story of Wuyuan Cemetery, emerged from the mountains in various versions. Unlike the Jinzibei Old Trail, this trail has no cover along the way, so visitors should remember to take sun protection measures.

Diao Mountain Ancient Trail (Wuyuanzi Grave Hiking Trail) Introduction

Diao Mountain Old Trail, also known as "Yuan's Grave Hiking Trail," is approximately 2,700 meters long. It is a place where friends can invite each other to leisurely stroll along the path, which provides not only an opportunity to exercise but also a chance to appreciate the beauty of the green mountains and grass waves in the fragrant valleys, evoking a sense of nostalgia. In spring, the cliffs bloom with flowers, creating breathtaking views that attract visitors, and it was once referred to by poets and scholars as "Diao Mountain Spring Scenery." The construction of Diao Mountain Old Trail began in the 31st year of the Meiji era (1898) when gold was discovered in the stream, leading to the discovery of gold veins along the route from Ruifang Shumeiping Mountain to Shuangxi Mudan Pit Mountain. Consequently, miners flocked to the area, creating a light transportation route for mineral transportation and building facilities such as a mining office and a medical station. This trail also became a vital route for the ancestors traveling back and forth between Ruifang, Jiufen, Shuangxi, and Mudan for trade and work, with people once frequently passing through. At the same time, romantic and tragic legends emerged from the mountains, including various versions of the story of Yuan's Grave. Unlike the Jinzi Bei Old Trail, there are no shelters along this old trail, so visitors should remember to take sun protection measures when heading there.
