Diao Mountain Ancient Trail, also known as Wuyuan Cemetery Hiking Trail, is approximately 2,700 meters long. Friends can invite each other to wander along the trail, not only to exercise but also to appreciate the beauty of the green mountains and grass waves in the fragrant forested valleys, evoking feelings of nostalgia. When spring arrives, the cliffs bloom with abundant flowers, making it a sight to behold, earning the name "Diao Mountain Spring Scenery" from poets and scholars of the past. The construction of Diao Mountain Ancient Trail dates back to the 31st year of the Meiji era (1898) when gold was discovered in the streams. It traces the source through Ruifang Shumeiping Mountain to Shuangxi Mudankeng Mountain, leading to the discovery of gold veins. Since then, miners flocked to the area, building a convenient transport route for mining products and establishing facilities such as a mining office and a medical station. This path became the essential route for ancestors traveling between Ruifang Jiufen and Shuangxi, Mudan, for trade and work, where travelers were once abundant. It also gave rise to romantic and beautiful legends of the mountains, such as the story of Wuyuan Cemetery, which has many versions. Unlike the Jinzibi Ancient Trail, the ancient trail does not provide much shelter along the way, so visitors should remember to take sun protection measures.
