Nantian Temple was established in 1952, with the main hall completed in 1953. It is dedicated to Guandi, the God of War, and was the largest Guandi temple in Taichung City at that time. In 1980, a six-story base was added, reaching a height of 146 meters for the statue of the Holy Emperor, which became visible from afar after its completion in 1984, marking it as a symbol of Nantian Temple.

Nantian Temple - Guandi Introduction

Nantian Temple currently has six floors, each dedicated to different deities: Confucius, General Yue Fei, the God of Wealth, the God of Earth, the Old Man Under the Moon, Wenchang Dijun, Mazu, the Goddess of Birth, Guanyin, Baosheng Emperor, Jade Emperor, Southern Dipper Star Lord, Northern Dipper Star Lord, Fuyou Emperor, Xuantian Shangdi, and Tianguan Dadi. From the sixth floor, looking down, one can take in the streets of Taichung's East District, bringing a sense of tranquility and serenity.
