The "Taichung Metropolitan Area Railway Elevated Transit Project" has undergone years of advocacy, planning, and construction. With the cooperation of both central and local governments, Taiwan Railways' trains are now diverted to operate on an elevated bridge, with the elevated stations opening simultaneously. The elevated railway in the Taichung metropolitan area runs 21.7 kilometers, starting 1.9 kilometers north of Fengyuan Station and extending 1.4 kilometers south of Daqing Station. It includes the renovation of five existing stations into elevated stations and the construction of five new elevated commuter stations: Lilan, Toujiacuo, Songzhu, Jingwu, and Wuqian. Among these, Daqing and Songzhu stations connect with the Taichung Metro Green Line, integrating the rail transport network and presenting a new image for the century-old railway.

With cooperation between the central and local governments, Taiwan Railways trains now operate on elevated bridges, with elevated stations concurrently activated. The railway extends 21.7 kilometers in the Taichung metropolitan area, starting 1.9 kilometers north of Fengyuan Station and ending 1.4 kilometers south of Daqing Station. In addition to the renovation of 5 existing stations into elevated stations, 5 new elevated commuter stations have been added: Liyin, Toujiaozu, Songzhu, Jingwu, and Wuqian. Among these, Daqing and Songzhu Station serve as transfer points to the Taichung Metro Green Line, integrating the rail transport network and showcasing a new look for the century-old railway.
