National Public Information Library Introduction
The National Public Information Library (NPIL) is a national-level public library and digital library. In addition to collecting, organizing, and preserving various books and digital resources, promoting reading, and providing information services, it also has the responsibility of guiding public libraries at all levels across the country. The main branch is located at Wuqiong South Road, South District, Taichung City, and was inaugurated in 2012. It has three branches: Liming, Jingwu, and Zhongxing. The main building has five above-ground floors and two underground levels, covering an area of 2.164 hectares, with a floor area of approximately 41,797 square meters. It is generally divided into reader service areas, meeting and learning areas, public service areas, and administrative support areas. The exterior of the library features a streamlined design reminiscent of flowing rivers, symbolizing the flow of infinite knowledge. The interior space adopts an outside-in design concept, integrating views from outdoor windows on different floors with interior color schemes and furniture, creating a spacious, bright, and modern indoor environment. There are also dedicated areas for different age groups such as children, teenagers, and senior citizens. The library incorporates emerging technologies such as motion sensing, augmented reality, RFID, and 3D movies to plan interactive and engaging experiential installations, making it an excellent place for the public to read, relax, and learn.
