Taiwan Matchstick Story Museum Introduction
The "Taiwan Matchstick Story Museum" is an exhibition hall themed around matches, providing detailed information on the history of match invention and the rise and decline of the match industry in Taiwan. It showcases a variety of artifacts, including lighters, match-related smoking accessories, matchboxes from the Japanese colonial period, Taiwanese advertising matchboxes, foreign imported matchboxes, as well as documents from match factories and employee uniforms. The museum has also specially borrowed items such as the matchstick typesetting machine and matchstick transport cart from the National Museum of Science and Technology. The diverse collection allows visitors to appreciate and reminisce about past lifestyles, making it a space worth exploring for both young and old in discovering the stories of matches. Families are welcome to visit. Opening hours: Monday to Friday, from 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM and from 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM. On holidays: Group visits are available for groups of 20 or more upon prior reservation and approval, and if a guided tour by volunteers is needed, it should be requested during the reservation process.
