Dongshi Old Train Station and Hakka Cultural Park Introduction
The Dongshi Hakka Cultural Park's Museum of Hakka Culture is located in the old Dongshi Railway Station, which has been renovated. The original platform and the rain shelter at the entrance of the waiting room were removed due to structural aging. However, the long benches where passengers used to sit while waiting for trains have been preserved in the exhibition room converted from the waiting area. Behind the Museum of Hakka Culture is the Dongfeng Greenway bicycle path, surrounded by lush greenery and offering distant views of the beautiful mountain town. This place is one of the new landmarks for tourism in Taichung County. The Museum of Hakka Culture displays Hakka cultural artifacts and hosts periodic exhibitions related to Hakka culture. The park is also planned to include themed exhibitions regarding Hakka's food, clothing, housing, transportation, education, and entertainment, introducing industries, language, and cultural characteristics. The Museum of Hakka Culture, transformed from the former Dongshi Railway Station, serves as the endpoint of the Dongfeng Greenway bicycle corridor. The museum periodically features thematic exhibitions that introduce local specialties and cultural characteristics of the Dongshi area. If you happen to pass by, don't forget to check out the museum to see what special exhibition is currently happening; you might discover unexpected treasures and reminisce about childhood memories.
