Liuyishan Hiking Trail Introduction
Liouguei Mountain is approximately 784 meters above sea level and belongs to the Wushan Mountain range of the Alishan Mountain Range, serving as the boundary between Jiasian District in Kaohsiung and Nanhua District in Tainan. During the Japanese occupation era, it was a popular hiking route. The trail is developed along the ridge and designed to resemble the ancient paths from the Japanese era, using natural ecological methods with wood-patterned stake pavements, stretching about 4.35 kilometers in total. There are four trail entrances from north to south: Sihte, Gongguan, Baiye, and Zihua entrances, and a one-way hike takes about 3 hours. The trail features a diverse range of tree species, each season showcasing different flowering plants, especially in winter when the plum trees bloom, filling the air with fragrance and creating a beautiful, dreamlike scene. The views to the west, east, and south offer sights of the Nanhua Reservoir, the Central Mountain Range, and the Wushan Mountain range of Alishan, making it an excellent spot for sunset watching. Along the route, there are observation platforms for lake views, plum blossom appreciation, a Liouguei Mountain monument at the triangulation point, a viewing platform at the pass, and a viewing pavilion, all recognized as a national-level healthy trail by the Forestry Bureau.
