Liuyi Mountain Hiking Trail Introduction
Liugui Mountain has an elevation of approximately 784 meters and belongs to the Wushan Mountain system of the Alishan Mountain Range. It serves as the boundary between Jiasian in Kaohsiung and Nanhua in Tainan, and has been a popular hiking route since the Japanese colonial period. The trail is developed along the ridge, modeled after the ancient paths from the Japanese colonial era, utilizing natural ecological techniques to create a wooden-patterned path surface. It is about 4.35 kilometers long and has four access points: Shide, Gongguan, Baiye, and Zixia, from north to south. The one-way hike takes approximately 3 hours. Along the way, there are diverse tree species, with different blooming plants each season; in winter, the plum trees bloom, filling the air with fragrance and creating a beautiful, dreamy scene. The trail offers expansive views to the west, east, and south, allowing for a glimpse of the Nanhua Reservoir, the Central Mountain Range, and the Alishan Wushan Mountain system, making it an excellent spot for watching sunsets. The trail is equipped with several viewpoints including a platform for observing the lake, a platform for appreciating the plums, a Liugui Mountain monument, a scenic view point at the mouth of the trail, and a viewpoint at the dam. It has been recognized as a national-level healthy trail by the Forestry Bureau.
