Liouyi Mountain Hiking Trail Introduction
Liougi Mountain has an elevation of about 784 meters and belongs to the Wushan Mountain Range of the Alishan Mountain Range. It serves as the boundary mountain between Jiaxian in Kaohsiung and Nanhua in Tainan. During the Japanese colonial period, it was a popular hiking route. The trail is developed along the mountain ridge, modeled after the ancient paths from the Japanese era, utilizing natural ecological construction methods with a wood-patterned plank surface, and has a total length of approximately 4.35 kilometers. There are four hiking entrances from north to south: Sihde, Gongguan, Baiye, and Zixia, with a one-way hike taking about 3 hours. The area is rich in diverse tree species, with different flowering plants blooming in various seasons. In particular, winter brings a beautiful sight with plum trees in full bloom, filling the air with their fragrance. From the west, east, and south directions, one can overlook the Nanhua Reservoir, the Central Mountain Range, and the Wushan Mountain Range of Alishan, making it an ideal spot to admire sunsets. Along the trail, there are also scenic spots such as a lake-view platform, plum-view platform, Liougi Mountain monument, Yaikou viewing platform, and Guanzhong Pavilion, which have been selected by the Forestry Bureau as a national-level health trail.
