Liuyishan Trail Introduction
Liougi Mountain has an elevation of about 784 meters and belongs to the Wushan range of the Alishan Mountain range. It serves as the boundary between Jiaxian in Kaohsiung and Nan-Hua in Tainan, and has been a popular hiking route since the Japanese colonial period. The trail is developed along the ridge and is designed to resemble the old roads from the Japanese era, utilizing eco-friendly construction methods that replicate wood grain for the path surface. The total length is approximately 4.35 kilometers. There are four access points for hiking from north to south: Shihte, Gongguan, Baiye, and Zixia entrances, with a one-way traverse taking about 3 hours. Along the way, various tree species can be seen, and different flowering plants bloom in various seasons, especially in winter when the plum trees blossom, exuding a delightful fragrance and creating a beautiful, dreamy scene. To the west, east, and south, one can enjoy views of the Nan-Hua Reservoir, Central Mountain Range, and Alishan Wushan range, making it an excellent spot for watching sunsets. The trail also features several attractions such as lakeside viewing platforms, plum blossom appreciation platforms, the Liougi Mountain monument at the triangulation point, Yako viewing platform, and the Guanzipu Pavilion. It is recognized as a national-level healthy trail by the Forestry Bureau.
