Bishan Historic Trail Introduction
The Bihshan Ancient Trail and the Tiaoshui Ancient Trail run parallel to each other. Before entering the Bihshan Ancient Trail, one must walk a section of the Tiaoshui Ancient Trail and then turn onto the Bihshan Trail. The starting point of the Bihshan Ancient Trail features a steep incline, so caution is advised while walking. The Tiaoshui Ancient Trail follows the mountain stream's channel, while the Bihshan Ancient Trail traverses the mountain ridgeline, creating a looped hiking path with one high and one low section. The starting point of the Bihshan Ancient Trail consists of a dirt and stone path, transitioning to an agricultural production road in the latter section, surrounded by longan, lychee, pomelo, jackfruit, lemon, and natural forests. Some sections offer distant views of the highway. In the middle of the trail, there is a stone staircase known as the "Heavenly Ladder" connecting the two ancient trails, which is quite steep and difficult to navigate. Passing through dense lychee and longan groves, one can take a side path to the ancient temple Donglong Temple, which connects to Lane 672 of Dazhang Road leading to County Road 139. Alternatively, one can also reach the Tiaoshui Ancient Trail via the side path after the rest area, using a wooden step staircase. Trail length: 2.04 kilometers. Walking time: 1.5 hours. Facilities: Rest area, benches, portable toilets, signage, parking lot (motorcycles and small vehicles).
