Bishan Old Trail Introduction
The Bixian Ancient Trail runs parallel to the Tiaoshui Ancient Trail. Before entering the Bixian Ancient Trail, one must first walk a section of the Tiaoshui Ancient Trail before turning into Bixian. The starting point of the Bixian Ancient Trail has a steep slope, so caution is advised. The Tiaoshui Ancient Trail follows the mountain stream, while the Bixian Ancient Trail runs along the mountain ridge, creating a loop trail with varying elevations. The starting point of the Bixian Ancient Trail is a dirt and stone path, with the latter section being a farm access road. Surrounding the area are longan, lychee, pomelo, jackfruit, lemon, and natural forests. In some sections, the highway can be viewed from a distance. In the middle of the trail, there is a stone staircase known as the “Heavenly Ladder” that connects the two ancient trails; however, it is quite steep and difficult to navigate. Passing through dense lychee and longan groves, one can divert to the Donglong Temple at a fork in the road and then connect to County Road 139 via Alley 672 along Dazhang Road. The fork also allows access to the Tiaoshui Ancient Trail via wooden stairs after reaching a rest platform. Trail length: 2.04 kilometers. Walking time: 1.5 hours. Facilities: rest platform, seating, portable toilets, signboards, and a parking lot (for motorcycles and small cars).
