Bishan Historical Trail (Exploring Ancient and Scenic Journey) Introduction

Starting from Biyansi Temple in Fen Yuan, the stairs next to the pagoda serve as the entrance to the trail. The environment around Biyansi Temple is tranquil and solemn, making it a great place to visit. Although this ancient path was affected by flooding in the past, leading to erosion of the path's foundation, recent maintenance measures by the county government have significantly improved the area. The lush greenery and deep historical ambiance add to its charm. The Biyansi Ancient Path runs parallel to the Tiaoshui Ancient Path. Before entering the Biyansi Ancient Path, one must first walk a section of the Tiaoshui Ancient Path before turning onto the Biyansi Ancient Path. The starting point of the Biyansi Ancient Path has a steep gradient, requiring caution while walking. The Tiaoshui Ancient Path follows the mountain stream, while the Biyansi Ancient Path runs along the ridge line, creating a looped trail with varying elevations. The starting section of the Biyansi Ancient Path is a dirt and stone path, while the later section is a farm access road, surrounded by longan, lychee, pomelo, jackfruit, lemon, and natural forests. In some sections, there are distant views of the highway. In the middle of the path, there is a stone staircase known as the "Heavenly Ladder" connecting the two ancient paths, though it is quite steep and difficult to traverse. Passing through dense lychee and longan forests, one can take a fork in the road to reach the East Dragon Palace of the ancient temple, which connects to Lane 672 of Dazhang Road, leading to County Road 139. From the fork, one can also rest on a platform and access the Tiaoshui Ancient Path via wooden steps.
