Bishan Old Trail (Ancient Exploration and Scenic Tour) Introduction
Starting from Biyansi Temple in Fenyi, the stairs beside the pagoda serve as the entrance to the hiking trail. The environment around Biyansi Temple is tranquil and solemn, making it a great place to visit. Although this ancient trail was previously affected by flooding, which caused erosion, recent maintenance measures by the county government have significantly improved the area, adorned with lush greenery and a sense of ancient charm. The Biyansi Ancient Trail runs parallel to the Tiaoshui Ancient Trail; one must first walk a section of the Tiaoshui Ancient Trail before turning into the Biyansi Ancient Trail. The starting point of the Biyansi Ancient Trail has a steep incline, so caution is advised; the Tiaoshui Ancient Trail follows the mountain gully, while the Biyansi Ancient Trail runs along the mountain ridge, creating a circular hiking trail with varying elevations. The Biyansi Ancient Trail begins with a dirt and stone path, transitioning into a farm access road in the latter section. Surrounding the trail are longan, lychee, pomelo, jackfruit, lemon, and natural forests, with some segments offering distant views of the highway. In the middle of the trail, there is a stone staircase known as the "Heavenly Ladder" that connects the two ancient trails, although it is quite steep and challenging to traverse. Passing through dense lychee and longan trees, one can take a detour to the Donglong Palace ancient temple, and then follow Lane 672 on Dazhang Road to connect to County Road 139. From the detour, one can also reach a resting platform and then take a wooden step ladder to connect with the Tiaoshui Ancient Trail.
