The Nanzi community was originally a transfer station for Taiwan Sugar Corporation for transporting sugarcane and passengers, and it is primarily a community centered around the sugar and agricultural industries. In 2013, through artists Liao Yao-Hsing and Liao Hui-Tsung, the rural scenery and railroad culture of the Nanzi community were transformed into vibrant 3D murals, making the community lively and colorful.
