Shuinan Cave Visitor Center_Shan Cheng Museum Introduction
The Liandong Community in Shuinandong was a dormitory complex planned and constructed by the Japanese during the mining period. The houses are neatly arranged and equipped with a complete water supply system, firefighting facilities, a post office, a police station, a hospital, a supply center, and various other amenities, making it a fully functional living community. Currently, the miner settlement in the Liandong Community remains intact, with dormitories allocated based on job rank. Supervisory staff accommodations consist of paired units, while the row houses for general workers' families are built in clusters of four or six. The community offers facilities such as a restaurant, public bath, and sports field. The former Taipower's idle old restaurant is a one-story reinforced concrete building. According to the "Water Supply Pipeline Layout Map of Shuinandong Area" left by a subsidiary of Taiwan Sugar Corporation, this building was originally a hospital. After renovations, it has been leased by the Ruifang District Office to serve as a community activity center, aiming to establish Liandong Village as a genuine new attraction. The New Taipei City Tourism and Travel Department selected this location to set up a tourist service center, enhancing tourism services in Liandong Village. The service center is situated in the former community restaurant, while the cultural and arts performance center occupies the site of the old theater, which regularly screened films and was the main form of entertainment for residents at the time. Therefore, the concept of this tourist service center’s architecture was inspired by the imagery of the Thirteen Levels Ruins, strengthening the structure of the old restaurant and renovating its appearance. After the renovations, it became the first tourist service center in the country to incorporate cultural and artistic performances, creating added value and differentiation in tourism services.
