Xinzhuang Temple Street Night Market Introduction

Before the rise of Wanhua, Xinzhuang was a bustling gathering place for merchants, known for the saying "One Fu, Two Deer, and Three Xinzhuang." However, it was later replaced by Wanhua due to the silting of the river port. Although it is no longer a crucial waterway, its lively atmosphere hasn't diminished. The Miao Street Night Market is filled with many representative food stalls that evoke a sense of nostalgia for traditional flavors. The night market, mainly centered around Xinzhuang Road, spans areas such as Xintai Road, Xinzhuang Road, Bijiang Street, and Jingde Road. The most characteristic feature of the Xinzhuang Miao Street Night Market is that during the day it is an old street with historical value, while at night it transforms into a vibrant food night market. Speaking of the Xinzhuang Miao Street Night Market, the most famous food area is Alley 214 on Xinzhuang Road, where on one side you can find fragrant oil rice and on the other, savory pork meatball soup. After a satisfying meal, you can enjoy some mung bean soup or frozen tofu pudding. Also along Xinzhuang Road, next to the Wusheng Temple, is a shop selling mushroom pork broth. Despite the small size of this shop, it has been passed down through three generations, insisting on using whole pieces of vegetarian meat as ingredients for the broth, which is coated with sweet potato flour for a smooth texture. The pork broth retains absolute elasticity and chewiness, making it an endless delight. The Ci You Temple and Wusheng Temple in the Xinzhuang Miao Street Night Market have hundreds of years of history and are recognized as national level three historical sites. They not only protect the livelihoods of the old street's food vendors but also bear witness to the rise and fall of Xinzhuang over a century. While strolling through the night market, one might as well light some incense and pray for family safety and good fortune. (Source: New Taipei City Tourism Network)
