Xinzhuang Temple Street Night Market Introduction

Before the rise of Wanhua, Xinzhuang was a bustling commercial hub, known by the saying "One City, Two Deers, Three Xinzhuang." However, it was later replaced by Wanhua due to river port siltation. Although it is no longer a key waterway due to the passage of generations, its vibrant atmosphere remains intact. The Miaojie Night Market features many representative food stalls that evoke a sense of nostalgia for traditional flavors. The night market primarily spans XinTai Road, Xinzhuang Road, BiJiang Street, and JingDe Road, with Xinzhuang Miaojie Night Market being the most distinctive. During the day, it serves as a historically significant old street, transforming into a food night market in the evening. Notably, the most popular food area in Xinzhuang Miaojie Night Market is Alley 214 on Xinzhuang Road, where you can enjoy delicious oil rice on one side and savory pork ball soup on the other, followed by green bean soup or frozen tofu for dessert. There is also a mushroom and pork soup stall next to the Wusheng Temple on Xinzhuang Road. Despite its small size, this store has been passed down through three generations, offering a firmly textured meat soup made from whole vegetarian meat, with a layer of sweet potato flour adding tenderness. The meat soup retains absolute elasticity and chewiness, making it irresistible. The CiYou Temple and Wusheng Temple in Xinzhuang Miaojie Night Market also have several hundred years of history and are officially recognized as third-class historical sites. They not only protect the livelihood of the old street vendors but also witness the rise and fall of Xinzhuang over the century. While exploring the night market, it's worth lighting some incense to pray for family safety and good fortune. (Source: New Taipei City Tourism Network)
