Sheng Chang Traditional Chinese Medicine Exploration Museum Introduction
Sheng Chang Pharmaceutical was founded in 1946, initially producing raw medicinal powders, pills, and ointments. Later, it started to focus on producing modern concentrated Chinese medicine formulations, becoming a pioneer in the development of concentrated Chinese medicine (scientific traditional Chinese medicine) in Taiwan. In 1966, it began consistent operations at its Zhonghe plant, producing high-quality concentrated Chinese medicine in large quantities. In 1976, it was the first to introduce the concept of GMP, and in 1986, after evaluation by the Department of Health, it became the first drug manufacturer in the nation to pass the GMP evaluation for traditional Chinese medicine. In 2000, it invested 3 billion NTD to establish the Chinese Herbal Medicine Research and Education Park in Zhongli. With a scientific spirit, advanced equipment, and rigorous quality control standards, its innovative products have been widely recognized in the medical community and marketed worldwide. In 2018, it passed the strict PIC/S GMP factory certification by the Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency (PMDA) of Japan. In 2020, to increase awareness of traditional Chinese medicine, it established the Sheng Chang Chinese Herbal Exploration Hall to share knowledge of Chinese herbal culture with the public. The hall is divided into five sections representing wood, fire, earth, metal, and water, displaying over a hundred types of Chinese medicinal materials. Through interactive multimedia and touch-screen mini-games, it aims to engage people's interest and create a lively and vivid sensory experience: using hearing to enter the magical world of Chinese herbs, using smell to connect with flavor imaginatively, using touch to feel the energy and texture of medicinal materials, using taste to enjoy pure health nourishment, and using sight to observe the texture and appearance of herbs. It hopes to inspire a life attitude that enhances sensitivity and understanding about oneself and the world, showcasing the diversity of life crafted through the philosophy of traditional Chinese medicine. This not only leads to a healthier and happier public but also enriches their lives. Over the past sixty years, it has inherited the spirit of Sun Simiao in helping the world and innovating within tradition.
