Shengchang Traditional Chinese Medicine Exploration Museum Introduction
Sheng Chang Pharmaceutical Factory was established in 1946, initially producing raw herbal powders, pills, and syrups, and later began producing modern concentrated traditional Chinese medicine formulations, becoming a pioneer in the development of concentrated Chinese medicine (scientific Chinese medicine) in Taiwan. In 1966, it started large-scale production of high-quality concentrated traditional Chinese medicine at the Zhonghe site. In 1976, it was the first to introduce the GMP concept, and in 1986, it became the first pharmaceutical factory in the nation to pass the traditional Chinese medicine GMP software evaluation after an audit by the Department of Health. In 2000, an investment of NT$3 billion was made to establish the Traditional Chinese Medicine Research and Education Park in Zhongli. With a scientific spirit, advanced equipment, and rigorous quality control requirements, it has continuously innovated, and its products have been widely recognized in the medical community, marketed globally. In 2018, it passed the strict PIC/S GMP factory certification by the Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency (PMDA) of Japan. In 2020, to promote greater awareness of traditional Chinese medicine, Sheng Chang established the Sheng Chang Traditional Chinese Medicine Exploration Hall, aiming to pass on the cultural knowledge of traditional Chinese medicine to the public. The hall is divided into the five elements of Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water, and showcases over a hundred types of Chinese medicinal materials. It also sparks interest through interactive multimedia and touch-screen mini-games, designing a lively and engaging exploration of the five senses: using hearing to enter the magical world of traditional Chinese medicine, using smell to connect with flavor imagination, using touch to feel the energy and texture of the herbs, using taste to enjoy pure and healthy nourishment, and using sight to observe the patterns and appearances of the medicinal materials. It aims to inspire a life attitude that enhances sensitivity and understanding of oneself and the world, creating diverse life experiences through the philosophy of traditional Chinese medicine, which brings health and happiness to the community, enriching people's lives. After more than half a century, it continues to inherit the spirit of Sun Simiao in relieving suffering and innovating within tradition. Visitors are welcome to enter Sheng Chang Traditional Chinese Medicine Exploration Hall to understand and experience the rich connotations of Chinese medicine culture and to draw wisdom from ancient sages for health.
