Sheng Chang Chinese Herbal Medicine Exploration Museum Introduction

Sheng Chang Pharmaceutical Factory was established in 1946. In its early days, it produced crude medicine powders, pills, and ointments, and later began to focus on the production of modern concentrated formulations of traditional Chinese medicine, becoming a pioneer in the development of concentrated Chinese medicine (scientific traditional medicine) in Taiwan. In 1966, it began full-scale production of high-quality concentrated Chinese medicine at its Zhonghe plant. In 1976, it was the first to introduce the GMP concept, and in 1986, it became the first traditional Chinese medicine factory in the country to pass the GMP software evaluation conducted by the Department of Health. Additionally, in 2000, it invested NT$3 billion to establish a Chinese herbal medicine research and education park in Zhongli. With a scientific spirit, advanced equipment, and rigorous quality control standards, its innovative product variants have gained widespread recognition in the medical community and are marketed worldwide. In 2018, it passed the strict PIC/S GMP factory certification by the Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency (PMDA) of Japan. In 2020, to help more people understand traditional Chinese medicine, Sheng Chang established the Sheng Chang Chinese Herbal Medicine Exploration Hall to pass on the knowledge of herbal culture to the public. The exploration hall is divided into five sections based on the elements of wood, fire, earth, metal, and water. It displays over a hundred kinds of Chinese medicinal materials and engages visitors through interactive multimedia and touch process mini-games to spark interest, designing a lively five-sense exploration: using hearing to enter the magical world of Chinese herbal medicine, using smell to connect with the imagination of flavors, using touch to feel the energy and texture of the medicinal materials, using taste to enjoy pure, healthy nourishment, and using vision to observe the textures and appearance of the materials. The goal is to inspire a lifestyle attitude that enhances sensitivity and understanding of oneself and the world, creating a diversity of life through the philosophy of Chinese herbal medicine that not only makes people healthier and happier but also enriches their lives. After more than half a century of history, it continues to inherit the spirit of Sun Simiao in helping and saving people while innovating and seeking change within tradition. You are welcome to step into the Sheng Chang Chinese Herbal Medicine Exploration Hall to understand and experience the rich connotation of Chinese medicine culture and draw wisdom from ancient sages for health maintenance.
