Wild Boar Garden Civet Coffee Introduction

In 1901, the Japanese introduced Arabica coffee from Java, and the cultivation trials in Pingtung's Hengchun yielded abundant results. By 1912, the coffee was promoted to Taitung, Hualien, and other areas, leading to the establishment of companies such as the East Taiwan Coffee Co., Taitung Development Co., and Kimura Coffee's Taiwan branch, all dedicated to developing the coffee industry in Taiwan. By the 70th year of the Republic, Taitung still had nearly 30 hectares of coffee plantations tended by dedicated coffee farmers, who cultivated fragrant and rich energy coffee using natural farming methods in accordance with the laws of nature. In the Beinan Township of Taitung County, the ancient land of the Puyuma people known as Longguo Mai (NADANAW) is abundant in bamboo forests. Situated between the Central Mountain Range and the Coastal Mountain Range (commonly referred to as Jiugang Wind), the area lies within the Pacific black current basin. Each winter, when the northeastern monsoon arrives, the aroma of bamboo leaves fills the air coinciding with the maturity of the coffee. The coffee farmers express their gratitude to the land and nature by sharing the joy of the bamboo-scented breeze and the coffee harvest.
