Wild Boar Garden Civet Coffee Introduction
In 1901, the Japanese introduced Arabica coffee from Java, and fruitful results were achieved in the experimental field in Hengchun, Pingtung. By 1912, the cultivation had expanded to Taitung and Hualien, with the establishment of the Eastern Taiwan Coffee Company, the Taitung Revitalization Company, and the Kimura Coffee Taiwan Division, all focused on developing Taiwan's coffee industry. By the 70th year of the Republic of China, there were nearly 30 hectares of coffee plantations in Taitung, managed by dedicated coffee farmers who adhered to natural farming methods to cultivate fragrant and sweet energy coffee. In Beinan Township, Taitung County, the ancient indigenous name of Longguomai (NADANAW) is known for its abundant bamboo forests. Located in the Pacific Kuroshio region between the Central Mountain Range and the Coastal Mountain Range (commonly known as Jiugangfeng), every winter when the northeasterly monsoon arrives, the fragrance of bamboo leaves coincides with the coffee ripening season. The coffee farmers express their gratitude to the land and nature by sharing the joy of the fragrant bamboo leaves and the coffee harvest.
