Shanshui Wetland Park Introduction

The Shanshui Wetland, recognized under the name of an educational park, won the highest honor at the 2012 National Excellent Construction Award and the Excellence Award in the Best Environmental Culture category. At the entrance of the Shanshui Wetland, there is a stone monument titled "Shanshui Wetland Park" established by the county government. The wetland features several pioneer species such as the sea urchin-like coastal prickly grass. The wetland area is located on the western side of Shanshui and covers approximately 1.7 hectares. It employs techniques such as gradually lowering the height of the western embankment and using fill slopes and vegetative greening on both sides of the dike, embodying the concept of invisible embankments to connect the wetland habitat both inside and outside the dike. This approach integrates aquatic, wetland, and terrestrial plants, creating a combined wetland ecology and landscape area. The coastal wetland landscape outside the seawall, with its vast sandy beaches and wetland scenery, highlights the unique features of the Shanshui region in Penghu, attracting many migratory birds that inhabit wetland environments during winter. In addition to being wildlife habitats, the Shanshui Wetland Park is equipped with paths and observation decks, offering opportunities for sea-viewing, birdwatching, and sunset watching, and is linked with the Shanshui 30 Heights Park. [Recommended stay time] 1 hour.
