Shanshui Wetland Park Introduction
Shanshui Wetland, recognized under the name of an educational park, won the highest honor of the National Excellent Construction Award in 2012 and the Excellent Award for Best Environmental Culture. At the entrance of Shanshui Wetland, there is a stone tablet designated by the county government stating "Shanshui Wetland Park." The wetland features several fixed sand plants, such as the beach prickly grass, which resembles sea urchins. The wetland area is located on the western side of Shanshui, covering approximately 1.7 hectares, employing a technique of gradually lowering the height of the western embankment and using soil fill and vegetation greening on both sides of the embankment. This is the concept of invisible embankments, connecting the wetland areas inside and outside the embankment, creating a combined ecological and landscape area featuring aquatic, wetland, and dryland plants. The wetland landscape outside the coastal embankment, with its vast sandy beaches and wetland scenery, showcases the unique characteristics of the Shanshui area in Penghu, often attracting many migratory birds that inhabit wetland environments during winter. In addition to being a habitat for flora and fauna, Shanshui Wetland Park also includes facilities such as trails and observation decks, allowing visitors to enjoy views of the sea, birdwatching, and sunsets, and connects with the Shanshui 30 Heights Park. [Recommended stay time] 1 hour.
