Shanshui Wetland Park Introduction
Shanshui Wetland, under the name of an educational park, was awarded the highest honor of the 2012 National Excellent Construction Award and the Best Environmental Cultural Excellence Award. At the entrance of Shanshui Wetland, there is a stone tablet set up by the county government that reads "Shanshui Wetland Park." The wetland is home to several fixed sand plants, such as the beach needle grass that resembles sea urchins. The wetland area is located on the western side of Shanshui and covers approximately 1.7 hectares. It adopts the method of gradually lowering the height of the western levee of Shanshui and using earth filling and vegetation greening on both sides of the levee, embodying the concept of invisible levees, to connect the wetland areas inside and outside the levee. This has resulted in a combined ecological and landscape area integrating aquatic, wetland, and terrestrial plants. The wetland landscape outside the breakwater, with its vast coastal beaches and wetland features, exemplifies the characteristics of wetlands in the Shanshui area of Penghu. In winter, it often attracts many migratory birds that inhabit wetland environments. In addition to habitats for flora and fauna, Shanshui Wetland Park is equipped with facilities such as walking paths and observation decks, allowing visitors to view the sea, watch birds, and enjoy sunsets, while also connecting with the 30 Gao Di Park of Shanshui.
