Wang'an Beach (Dream Beach) Introduction
In front of you lies a small golden beach, known as the secret of Xiyu—Dream Beach. Originally named Wang'an Beach, it is a small yet beautiful beach stretching about 200 meters. It is called Dream Beach not only because it is the best spot in Xiyu to watch the sunset, but also because it is a beach that only appears during low tide, being submerged at other times. So, it's essential to check the tidal schedule beforehand to see it! Not far from Dream Beach, in the small Chijiao community, there is a historically rich street called Zhuzi Street, once known as "Kaiyu's First Street." This approximately 300-meter-long street was quite lively during the Japanese occupation, home to suit shops, blacksmith shops, and pastry shops. At its peak, Zhuzi Street had 24 traditional courtyard houses from one end to the other. However, after the decline and population outflow, most of the old houses are now deserted, and the former prosperity is no longer visible. When Taiwan was restored, a large number of anti-communist soldiers were stationed on Zhuzi Street and operated a welfare shop there, which fell into disrepair after their departure. Above the entrance of No. 129, a weathered national emblem still bears witness to this history. Today, even the large bamboo forest that once gave the area its name has disappeared, leaving a deep sense of change and a memory of what it used to be.
