Xiao Chi Reservoir Introduction
Xiao Chi Reservoir was not originally a reservoir but a pond, which is also the origin of its name "Xiao Chi." Due to the natural conditions in the Penghu area, there are inherent difficulties in developing groundwater, which has already reached saturation. To address the need for domestic water, small reservoirs were constructed. Xiao Chi Reservoir was built according to the ten-year implementation plan for Penghu's water resource development, following the construction of Chihkan Underground Reservoir and Wang-an Xian Reservoir. Construction began in February 1989 and was completed and put into operation in June 1990, with a total storage capacity of approximately 200,000 cubic meters to meet the drinking water needs of residents in Xiyu Township. Xiao Chi Reservoir is located in the low-lying hilly area between Dachi and Xiao Chi Villages at a coastal bay. The catchment area is 1.05 square kilometers, with a normal water level elevation of 14.2 meters, a dam crest length of 245 meters, a dam crest elevation of 17 meters, a full water level storage capacity of 130,000 cubic meters, and a planned annual water supply of 293,000 cubic meters. White egrets can often be seen here, making it a great place for bird lovers to observe birds. Behind the reservoir is a beautiful spot known locally as Dream Beach, commonly referred to as Dream Beach. [Recommended stay time] 0.5 hours.
Watching the sunset at Xiao Chi Reservoir is also very picturesque.
