Xiao Chi Reservoir Introduction
Xiao Pond Reservoir, initially not a reservoir but a pond, is the origin of the name "Xiao Pond." Due to natural constraints in the Penghu region, there are inherent difficulties in groundwater development, which has already reached saturation. To address the demand for domestic water, a small reservoir was constructed. Xiao Pond Reservoir was built according to the ten-year implementation plan for Penghu's water resource development, starting construction in February of the 78th year of the Republic of China (1989) and completed in June of the 79th year (1990), with a total storage capacity of approximately 200,000 cubic meters to meet the drinking water needs of residents in Xi Yu Township. Xiao Pond Reservoir was constructed using the low-lying hills between Daqi and Xiaqi Villages at a coastal bay. The catchment area is 1.05 square kilometers, the normal water level is 14.2 meters, the length of the dam crest is 245 meters, the height of the dam crest is 17 meters, the full water level storage capacity is 130,000 cubic meters, and the planned annual water supply is 293,000 cubic meters. White egrets are often seen here, making it a great spot for birdwatching enthusiasts. There is a beautiful beach known as "Dream Beach" (or Menghuan Beach) behind the reservoir, which is locally referred to as Dream Beach. [Recommended stay time] 0.5 hours
