Xiao Chi Reservoir Introduction
Xiao Chi Reservoir was not originally a reservoir but rather a pond, which is also the origin of its name "Xiao Chi." Due to the natural conditions in the Penghu area, the development of groundwater has inherent challenges and has reached saturation. To address the need for domestic water supply, a small reservoir was constructed. Xiao Chi Reservoir was built as part of the Penghu Water Resources Development Ten-Year Implementation Plan, following the Chikeng Underground Reservoir and the Wang-an Xian Reservoir. It broke ground in February 1989 and was completed and put into operation in June 1990, with a total storage capacity of approximately 200,000 cubic meters to meet the drinking water demands of residents in Xi Yu Township. Xiao Chi Reservoir was constructed between the hilly low-lying areas of the Dachi and Xiao Chi villages at a coastal bay. It has a catchment area of 1.05 square kilometers, a normal water level elevation of 14.2 meters, a dam top length of 245 meters, a dam top elevation of 17 meters, and a full water level storage capacity of 130,000 cubic meters, with an annual planned water supply of 293,000 cubic meters. Herons are commonly seen here, making it a great place for birdwatching enthusiasts. Behind the reservoir is a scenic spot known by locals as the Dream Beach, also colloquially referred to as the Dream Beach. [Recommended stay time] 0.5 hours.
