Erkan Grassland Introduction
Erkan Grassland, located in the Erkan settlement, experiences intense sunlight and is dry with little rainfall, which is not conducive to the growth of shrubs. Instead, low, wind-resistant grasses thrive in the surrounding plateaus, creating a flat, lush green expanse commonly referred to as Erkan Prairie. The grassland has a visual effect resembling a soft green carpet and is particularly clean and expansive in the summer. In 2002, McDonald's chose to promote the Erkan Prairie in winter with an advertisement showcasing the "violently dancing withered grass" under the monsoon. The view from Erkan Prairie is distant yet not tiresome. The landscape resembles that of Europe, with agaves and asters reaching for the sky. In the summer, tourists occasionally fly kites at dusk over the prairie, creating a leisurely atmosphere. During the Japanese colonial period, there were 20 yellow cattle raised here, but after the population moved away and farmland fell into disuse, only a couple of old cattle, long forgotten in farming, remain on the grassland. Occasionally, residents from neighboring villages bring cattle here, filling the Erkan Prairie with the sounds of cows, and there are currently also sheep grazing, adding more vitality to the area. The term "Gangqiao Grassland" generally refers to the area between the top of Dakeng Creek and the Zhuzi Head to the columnar basalt of Dagua Leaf. Although it has never been the core of Erkan's industrial activities, it is an essential element in depicting the beautiful scenery of Erkan. 【Recommended Stay Time】 1 hour
