Erkan Grassland Introduction
Erkan Grassland, characterized by strong sunlight and a dry climate with little rainfall, is not conducive to the growth of shrubs. Instead, low wind-resistant grasses and plants thrive in the surrounding tableland of the Erkan settlement, creating a flat and lush green area known as Erkan Grassland. Visually, the grassland resembles a soft green carpet, appearing vast and clean during summer. In 2002, a McDonald's advertisement chose to promote the desolate "wildly dancing dry grass" under the seasonal monsoon of Erkan Grassland to the world during winter. The view from Erkan Grassland is far-reaching yet not exhausting. The landscape has a European feel, with agaves and daisies reaching skyward. In summer, visitors occasionally fly kites during the sunset, enjoying a relaxed atmosphere. During the Japanese occupation, there were 20 yellow cattle grazing here, but with population migration and agricultural land fallow, only a few old cattle, forgotten in farming, now crawl within the grassland. Occasionally, residents from neighboring villages bring their cattle here, bringing the sounds of cattle back to Erkan Grassland, which currently also hosts a flock of sheep, adding more vibrancy. The term "Grassland" generally refers to the area between Dakangou Peak and Lipazitou, as well as the columnar basalt of Daguaye, and while it has never been the core of Erkan's industrial activities, it is a significant element in depicting the beauty of Erkan.
