Erkan Grassland Introduction
Erkan Plateau Grassland has strong sunlight and is dry with little rain, which is not conducive to the growth of shrubs. Low wind-resistant grass and other plants have grown around the Erkan settlement on the terrace, creating a flat, lush green area, commonly referred to as Erkan Grassland. The visual effect of the grassland resembles a soft green carpet. During summer, the grassland is rich and vast, offering a clean environment; in 2002, a McDonald's advertisement chose to promote the "wildly dancing dry grass" of Erkan Grassland under the winter monsoon to the world. While the grassland seems distant, it does not feel tiring to gaze upon. Erkan Grassland has a European feel, with agave and daisies dotted throughout, reaching towards the sky. In the summer, visitors sometimes fly kites during the dusks on the grassland, embodying a leisurely atmosphere. During the Japanese occupation era, there were 20 yellow cattle raised here; after population migration and the agriculture land being left fallow, only a few elderly cows, forgotten in farming, now lie low on the grassland. Occasionally, residents from neighboring villages bring cows here, causing the Erkan Grassland to come alive with the sounds of cattle, currently, there are also flocks of sheep grazing, giving it a more vibrant feel. The plateau grassland generally refers to the area between Dakeng Kou Ding and Lipzaikou to Dagua Ye columnar basalt, which has never been the core of industrial activities for the Erkan people but is an essential element of the beautiful scenery of Erkan.
