Sanlong Temple Introduction
Sanlong Temple, commonly known as Wang Ye Temple, is dedicated to the three surnamed Wang Ye of Chihfu, also referred to as Sanfu Qiansui. It is said that the deity arrived at Xiaoliuqiu on a small boat and established a grass temple, marking the beginning of Sanlong Temple. The Sanfu Qiansui ceremony is held every three years and is a significant festival in Liuqiu Township. During this event, returning emigrants, along with their families, come back home, and fishing boats from Liuqiu suspend their operations to return to Xiaoliuqiu, filling the fishing port with vessels of all sizes. The township office also holds a Wang Boat Festival the night before the ceremony, featuring fireworks and lively celebrations. On the island, men of all social classes participate as part of the grand sedan chair team, while women are responsible for providing snacks for the sedan chair bearers and meals for the devotees. Beverages are available along the route for everyone to enjoy, showcasing the unique customs of welcoming the deity in Xiaoliuqiu.
