Meiren Cave Scenic Area Introduction
"Meiren Cave"? Could it be that beauties dwell in caves? Of course, the traces of these beauties have turned into a legend. It is said that during the ancient Ming Dynasty, there was a woman of outstanding beauty and various talents who encountered a shipwreck and drifted to this place, spending her solitary years here until her old age. The story adds a touch of mystery to the scenic area; whether true or false is not important, but the scenery of Meiren Cave remains breathtakingly beautiful. The Meiren Cave Scenic Area is located at the northeastern tip of Xiao Liuchiu and is divided into two parts by the coastal road. Walking up the stone steps, one encounters a coral reef hillside, while moving down the steps leads to the coral reef coastline. The scenic area features thirteen attractions planned for visitors, including winding paths, Tianwaitian, Lover's Flat, Immortal Cave, Immortal Spring, Viewing Pavilion, Meiren Cave, Tranquil Garden, Enchanting Array, One Line Sky, Banyan Rock Valley, Tranquil Valley, and Bat Cave. Along the winding pedestrian pathways, one can appreciate the naturally formed coral rock walls and mysterious caves. Occasionally, small animals can be seen scurrying through the grass and tree branches. Moving closer to the coastal paths, the vast sky and ocean unfold dramatically, presenting stunning vistas. The Viewing Pavilion is perched on the edge of a steep cliff, offering a true coastal lookout. From here, visitors can gaze at the shimmering waves, the blue sky, and the aquaculture nets that use the sea as their field—a unique sight only observable from this vantage point. The coastal area of the Meiren Cave Scenic Area features not only clean waters but also the Pacific’s Kuroshio current, creating an ideal environment for fish to thrive. This has led to the rise of aquaculture, with many fish pens located about two hundred meters offshore, housing grouper, black bream, and red drum. This not only increases the fishing yields for the local residents of Liuqiu but also transforms the area into a distinctive tourist destination.
