Yuntai Mountain Introduction
At an altitude of 248 meters, Yun Tai Mountain, which is second only to Beigan Bieshan Mountain (at 294 meters), is not only the highest peak in Nangan but also the best spot for a panoramic view of the Matsu Islands and the landscapes of mainland China. It has currently been designated as one of Taiwan's Minor 100 Peaks. In order to understand Matsu's strategic situation and the military dynamics across the strait, the Matsu Defense Command (referred to as "Matsu Defense Command") established a Military Situation Room on Yun Tai Mountain in 1996 to enhance enemy situation education for the troops. However, in 2009, considering the need for tourism development in the Matsu area, the exhibited materials in the Military Situation Room were relocated, and the Matsu Defense Command agreed to allow the Matsu National Scenic Area Administration to renovate the Military Situation Room, which opened to tourists on November 7 of the following year. During the early spring to the beginning of the rainy season and foggy season, the surrounding mountains are shrouded in mist, presenting a subtle beauty. On clear days, the Beigang Peninsula of mainland China is clearly visible. The beauty of Yun Tai Mountain at night is also remarkable, where couples can overlook the lights of Nangan, creating a romantic ambiance.
