Yuntai Mountain Introduction

At an elevation of 248 meters, Cloud Terrace Mountain (Yuntai Mountain) is the second highest peak after the 294-meter Beigan Bi Mountain and the highest point in Nangan. It is an excellent spot for viewing the Matsu Islands and the mainland. It has now been listed as one of Taiwan's Minor 100 Peaks. In 1996, to understand Matsu's strategic situation and military dynamics across the strait, the Matsu Defense Command built a military intelligence museum on Cloud Terrace Mountain to enhance the education of personnel regarding enemy situations. However, in 2009, considering the tourist development in Matsu, the displayed materials in the museum were relocated, and the Matsu Defense Command agreed to renovate the military intelligence museum. It was opened to visitors on November 7 of the following year. During the early spring to early summer rainy and foggy seasons, the surrounding mountains are shrouded in mist, presenting an elusive beauty; in clear weather, the northern Cape Peninsula of the mainland can be clearly seen. Cloud Terrace Mountain is also beautiful at night, where couples can overlook the nighttime lights of Nangan, making for a romantic experience.
