Zhongzhu Harbor Introduction
Dongyin Township is the main gateway of Dongyin Island, which is the northernmost and closest island to Taiwan in the Matsu archipelago. Suspended in the East China Sea, its stunning landscape and terrain are nothing short of extraordinary, and it is certainly deserving of being called a national treasure-level coastline. The primary access point to Dongyin Island is Zhongzhu Port. When a large ship arrives at the port, one can clearly see the three large red characters "中柱港" (Zhongzhu Port) engraved on the rock wall from the deck, marking the end of a long journey. Upon disembarking, the eye-catching statue of the "Dream Fish - Horizontal Striped Snapper" standing at the pier is one of the important landmarks on the island. Northeast of Zhongzhu Port, a densely packed cluster of houses sits on the hillside, which is Lehua Village and Zhongliu Village, the liveliest places in Dongyin filled with traditional Minnan residences, and often the spots where visitors head to find food. Exploring the coastal landscape of Dongyin, the entire island is made up of granite structures, with beautiful sights of sea-eroded cliffs, sea-eroded columns, and sea-eroded caves scattered throughout, often leaving visitors in awe. The coastal reefs are jagged and deep, and with various high-value fish species coming ashore throughout the seasons, fishing activities are very active, making it a well-recognized paradise for shore fishing among Taiwanese anglers.
