Zhongzhu Harbor Introduction
Dongyin Township is the main gateway to Dongyin Island, the northernmost island in the Matsu archipelago and the closest to Taiwan. It is nestled in the East China Sea, boasting stunning landscapes and geological features that make it deserving of the title "national treasure-level coastline." The primary access point to Dongyin Island is Zhongzhu Harbor. When a large ship enters the harbor, standing on the deck, one can clearly see the three large red characters "Zhongzhu Harbor" engraved on the rock face, signifying the end of a long journey. Upon landing, the prominent statue of "Dream Fish - Striped Sea Bream" at the dock is an important landmark of the island. To the northeast of Zhongzhu Harbor, densely packed houses on the hillside constitute the vibrant Lehua Village and Zhongliu Village, where visitors often seek food and rest in Dongyin. The exploration of Dongyin's coastal landscape reveals the island's entire structure is made of granite, adorned with beautiful coastal erosions such as sea cliffs, sea pillars, and sea caves, which often leave visitors in awe. The rocky coastal reefs are jagged, with steep cliffs and deep waters, coupled with seasonal high-value fish species coming to feed, making fishing activities very active and recognized by Taiwanese anglers as a sacred spot for shore fishing.
