Zhongzhu Harbor Introduction
Dongyin Township is the main gateway to Dongyin Island, the northernmost and closest island to Taiwan in the Matsu archipelago. Suspended in the East China Sea, its landscape and terrain are remarkably charming, and praising it as a national treasure-level coastline would not be an exaggeration. The primary access point to Dongyin Island is Zhongzhu Harbor. When a large vessel arrives, standing on the deck, one can clearly see the large red characters of "Zhongzhu Harbor" carved into the rock wall, signifying that the distant journey is about to conclude. Upon landing, the prominent statue of "Dream Fish - Striped Sea Bream" at the pier is an important landmark on the island. Northeast of Zhongzhu Harbor, on the hillside, densely packed houses form Lehua Village and Zhongliu Village, the most bustling areas on Dongyin known for their traditional Eastern Fujian residences, typically where visitors would seek food and lodging. Exploring the coastal landscape of Dongyin, the entire island is formed of granite, with beautiful sights such as sea-eroded cliffs, sea-eroded pillars, and sea-eroded caves scattered throughout the island, often leaving visitors in awe. The coastal reefs are jagged with high cliffs and deep waters, and with various high-value fish species coming ashore in different seasons, fishing activities are very active, recognized by Taiwanese anglers as a holy land for rock fishing.
