Zhongzhu Harbor Introduction
Dongyin Township is the main gateway to Dongyin Island. Dongyin is the northernmost island in the Matsu archipelago and the closest to Taiwan, isolated in the East China Sea, boasting stunning geographical features. Praising its coastline as a national treasure would not be an exaggeration. The primary access point to Dongyin Island is Zhongzhu Harbor. When large ships enter the harbor, standing on the deck, you can clearly see the large red characters carved into the rock face that say "Zhongzhu Harbor," signaling that a long journey is coming to an end. Upon disembarking, the striking statue of the "Dream Fish - Striped Snapper" stands prominently at the pier and serves as one of the important landmarks on the island. On the northeast hillside of Zhongzhu Harbor, a cluster of houses is packed together; this area is Lehua Village and Zhongliu Village, the most bustling spots on Dongyin, known for their traditional Eastern Fujian residences and commonly where visitors can find food. Exploring Dongyin's coastal landforms, the entire island is composed of granite, featuring beautiful sites such as sea-eroded cliffs, sea stacks, and sea caves that leave visitors in awe. The coastal reefs are jagged and steep, with deep waters; various economically significant fish species arrive throughout the seasons, making fishing activities very active, and it has been recognized by fishing enthusiasts in Taiwan as a holy land for rock fishing.
