Donghai Strong Wind Introduction
The best vantage point to overlook the panoramic view of Nanao is on the mountain summit above Nanao Qidong. There is a giant rock inscribed with the words "Eastern Sea Heroic Wind." According to the Dongyin Township Chronicle, in the spring of 1956, a small boat from the garrison's Eastern Sea Guerrilla Unit was patrolling the sea defense when it encountered a dozen enemy ships invading the waters. After bravely repelling the attackers and returning triumphantly, the unit commander, pleased with their victory against the odds, inscribed the words "Eastern Sea Heroic Wind" to commemorate their bravery. Standing at the mountain summit and gazing down, one can enjoy a complete view of Nanao Village and Zhongzhu Harbor, making it the only high ground on Dongyin Island that is open for 360-degree views of the entire island.
