East Coast Wind Fort Introduction
The best viewpoint overlooking the panoramic view of Nan'ao is located at the summit of Qizhong Mountain, where a giant rock is inscribed with the four characters "East China Sea Heroic Wind." According to the Dongyin Township Chronicle, in the spring of 1956, while patrolling coastal defenses, a small boat from the East China Sea guerrilla unit encountered more than ten enemy ships invading the waters. After bravely repelling them and triumphantly returning, the unit commander, pleased with their victory against overwhelming odds, inscribed the phrase "East China Sea Heroic Wind" to commemorate their bravery. From the mountaintop, one can enjoy a breathtaking view of Nan'ao Village and the Zhongzhu Harbor area, offering an unobstructed panoramic vista. This is the only elevated vantage point on Dongyin Island that permits a 360-degree view of the entire island.
