One-Line Sky Introduction
The Narrow Sky at Dongyin Island is located at the left cape of Tianwang'ao on the eastern side of the island. It is a steep sea erosion trench where two rock walls stand vertically close to each other, narrowing at the top and widening at the bottom, connecting the sky above and the sea below. Whenever the tide floods in, the waves crash against the rocks at the bottom, echoing like the sound of galloping horses, magnificently reverberating between the rock walls. A tunnel has been built between the two cliffs, along with a cement bridge connecting them, just a few tens of meters above sea level, yet it possesses an imposing height of over a hundred meters. On the rock wall, the phrase "Tianfeng Lingtao" is inscribed in large characters, perfectly describing the appeal of this site. It was written by General Lai Ming-tang, who was the Chief of the General Staff in 1972, during his visit to Dongyin. The inscription stands tall on the sheer rock wall, embodying a sense of isolation while stationed at the front. In the past, the Narrow Sky was a military restricted area, but it is now fully open to the public for free visits without the need for prior reservation. Visitors can walk down the steps to reach the end of the combat trench, where the "Narrow Sky" view unfolds before them, and they can listen to the sound of the waves at any time. Note: Visitors are advised to be careful on the stairs, watch for slippery conditions and falling rocks. Once the opening hours are over, the power will be turned off, and visitors are urged to cooperate and pay attention to travel safety.
