Liè Nǚ Yì Kēng Introduction
The majestic and beautiful cliff is located on the eastern side of Dongyin Island, behind Tianwang Harbor. It is a nearly vertical natural sea-eroded cliff that rises almost a hundred meters high, impressively majestic and awe-inspiring. According to legend, during the late Qing Dynasty, pirates often occupied the islands in the Min Sea area, causing great suffering for the locals. One day, pirates raided Dongyin Island, and a fisherman was killed. His wife fled to this sea-eroded cliff, finding no way to escape. When the pirates attempted to abduct and violate her, she resisted fiercely and leaped off the cliff to preserve her integrity. To honor her bravery and loyalty, later generations named the site "Martyr Woman's Pit." The terrain of Martyr Woman's Pit is steep and rugged, with the words "Loyalty and Bravery Last Through the Ages" carved in large letters on the cliff face. A path extending down into the bay leads to Martyr Woman's Pit. Visitors can walk along the railing pathway to the viewing platform and observe the impressive height of the cliff, over a hundred meters above the sea, with protruding rock formations that evoke admiration for the woman's courage. On the west side of Martyr Woman's Pit stands a rock called "Martyr Woman's Stone," named after a woman who gazed out for her husband's return. This rock is also one of Dongyin's unique giant stone landscapes. Note: The area is subject to strong winds and rugged terrain; please pay extra attention to your safety.
