Hanbi Trail Introduction
The starting point of the Hanbi Trail is beside Meihe Garden. The trail is approximately 1.5 kilometers long, gently winding around the waterfront of Hanbi Peninsula, surrounded by trees and flowers, making it a popular route suitable for all ages. Along the trail, there is a dock built specifically for Mr. Chiang Kai-shek, located below the Hanbi Pavilion, which is now a historical site protected by a guard post to prevent general access. In the early morning, visitors can see various birds such as colored birds, Red-crowned Parrots, and Olive-backed Pipits active in the woods. Reaching the pier by the lake allows a full view of Cien Pagoda, Lalu Island, and the beautiful green mountains and waters. The Yule Pavilion is the best place to gaze at the Qingshan Mountain Range and Lalu Island. With careful observation, one can appreciate the geographical wonders of the legend of the Qingshan Dragon stealing pearls. A "happiness connection" is formed by Lalu Island in the lake, Xuanguang Temple, Xuanzang Temple on Qingshan Mountain, and Cien Pagoda on the top of Shabalan Mountain, where many tourists enjoy making wishes for happiness. On both sides of the trail, fragrant shrubs such as osmanthus and gardenias, favored by Madam Chiang, are planted. From the trail, Sun Moon Lake can be viewed as a mirror, reflecting the hazy mountain colors in a picturesque scene. The Chiang couple often walked along the Hanbi Trail to enjoy the beauty of Sun Moon Lake during their lifetime. This place has hosted many well-known figures from both domestic and international backgrounds and holds an important position in modern history. For those with mobility difficulties, it is recommended to be accompanied by others for assistance and to enter through the Elderly Activity Center (Yuchi Township Sun Moon Lake Elderly Activity Center).
