Hanbi Trail Introduction
The starting point of the Hanbi Trail is next to Meihe Garden. The trail is approximately 1.5 kilometers long, gently winding around the waterfront of Hanbi Peninsula and meandering through shades of trees and flowers, making it a popular route suitable for all ages. Next to the trail, below Hanbi Pavilion, there is an early dock built specifically for Mr. Chiang Kai-shek, which is now a historical site. A guardhouse was established to prevent the public from approaching the dock. In the early morning, you can see various birds, such as colorful birds, mountain red heads, and pie-billed warblers, active in the woods. At the dock by the pond, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of Cien Pagoda, Lalu Island, and the surrounding mountains and waters. Yule Pavilion is the best spot to view the Qinglong Mountain Range and Lalu Island. With careful observation, one can appreciate the geographical wonders related to the legend of the Qinglong seizing the pearl. The alignment of Lalu Island in the pond, Xuanguang Temple, and Xuanzang Temple on Qinglong Mountain, along with Cien Pagoda atop Shabalan Mountain, creates a "Happiness Line," and many visitors like to make wishes for happiness here. The sides of the trail are also planted with fragrant shrubs like sweet osmanthus and gardenias, which were Mrs. Chiang's favorites. From the trail, you can gaze at Sun Moon Lake, where the water surface is like a mirror reflecting the misty mountains, creating picturesque scenery. During their lifetime, the Chiang couple often strolled along the Hanbi Trail to enjoy the beautiful views of Sun Moon Lake. This place has hosted many well-known figures from both domestic and abroad, playing an important role in modern history. For those with mobility impairments traveling along this trail, it is recommended to have assistance from others and enter via the entrance of the Elderly Community Center (Rihhu Township Sun Moon Lake Elderly Recreation Center).
