Eternal Bridge Introduction
The "Tianchang Bridge" has been permanently closed since February 29, 2024, and the "Dijiu Bridge" has been closed since January 1, 2025. Located in Chukou Village, Fanlu Township, Chiayi County, the Tianchang Dijiu Bridge is one of the famous attractions in Chukou, consisting of two suspension bridges: "Tianchang Bridge" and "Dijiu Bridge." These two bridges span the valley of the Bajhang River upstream, surrounded by green mountains and flowing streams, creating a picturesque scenery that has become a popular destination in the Chukou area. The Tianchang Bridge and Dijiu Bridge were built during the Japanese colonial period in the twelfth year of the Showa Era (1937) and were named to commemorate the birthday of the Japanese Emperor (known as Tianchang Festival) and the birthday of the Empress (known as Dijiu Festival). The Tianchang Bridge is located above the staircase, while the Dijiu Bridge is north of Chukou Bridge on Taiwan Route 18 at the 34K mark. After crossing the Dijiu Bridge, visitors can ascend the staircase to reach the Tianchang Bridge. The path connecting both bridges serves as an ideal route for tourists to stroll and enjoy the scenery, and it is also associated with a romantic legend of "couples eventually becoming united."
