Eternal Bridge Introduction
The "Tianchang Bridge" has been permanently closed since February 29, 2024, and the "Dijiu Bridge" has been closed since January 1, 2025. Located in Chukou Village, Fanlu Township, Chiayi County, the Tianchang Dijiu Bridge is one of Chukou's famous attractions, consisting of two suspension bridges: the "Tianchang Bridge" and the "Dijiu Bridge." These two bridges span a valley over the upper reaches of the Bajhang River, surrounded by lush green mountains and flowing streams, creating a picturesque scenery that makes it a popular destination in the Chukou area. The Tianchang Bridge and Dijiu Bridge were built during the Japanese colonial period in 1937, named to commemorate the birthdays of the Japanese Emperor (known as Tianchang Festival) and Empress (known as Dijiu Festival). The Tianchang Bridge is located above the steps, while the Dijiu Bridge is situated to the north of the Chukou Bridge on Taiwan Route 18 at kilometer 34. After crossing the Dijiu Bridge, visitors can ascend the steps to reach the Tianchang Bridge, and the pathway connecting the two bridges has become an ideal route for tourists to stroll and enjoy the scenery. There is also a romantic legend that suggests "lovers will eventually be together."
