Tianchang-Dijiu Bridge Introduction
The "Tiangchang Bridge" has been permanently closed since February 29, 2024, and the "Dijiu Bridge" has been closed since January 1, 2025. Located in Chukou Village, Fanlu Township, Chiayi County, the Tiangchang Dijiu Bridge is one of the famous attractions in Chukou, consisting of two suspension bridges: the "Tiangchang Bridge" and the "Dijiu Bridge". These two bridges span the upstream gorge of the Bazhang River, surrounded by green mountains and flowing streams, creating a picturesque landscape that makes it a popular spot in the Chukou area. The Tiangchang Bridge and Dijiu Bridge were built during the Japanese colonial period in the 12th year of the Showa era (1937), named to commemorate the birthdays of the Japanese Emperor (known as Tiangchang Festival) and the Empress (known as Dijiu Festival). The Tiangchang Bridge is located above the staircase, while the Dijiu Bridge is situated north of the Chukou Bridge on Provincial Highway 18 at 34K. After crossing the Dijiu Bridge, visitors can ascend the stairs to reach the Tiangchang Bridge. The connected walkway between the two bridges serves as an ideal route for visitors to stroll and enjoy the scenery, with a romantic legend that states "lovers will eventually be together."
