Datang Village is the largest village in Xinkang Township, dominated by the Lin surname. According to legend, in the first half of the 17th century, a Lin man from Yongfeng Village in Nanjing County crossed the sea to Taiwan, and along the way, he sought the protection of the deity of the famous anti-Qing general Yue Fei. After arriving at Datang Village, he initially enshrined the deity at his home. As his descendants grew in number, they eventually built a temple in the village to honor the deity, becoming the only Yue Fei temple in Chiayi County and the oldest Zhengchong Temple in Taiwan, established by the eastern expedition.

Jiuzun Temple, Datun Village Introduction

Datang Village is the largest village in Xinkang Township, primarily inhabited by the Lin family. According to legend, in the first half of the 17th century, a man from the Lin family crossed the sea from Yongfengli, Nan Jing County to Taiwan, while seeking the protection of the divine statue of the famous anti-Qing general Yue Fei. After arriving in Datang Village, he initially worshipped the statue at home, but as his descendants multiplied, a temple was built in the village to honor Yue Fei, making it the only Yue Wang temple in Chiayi County and the oldest Jingzhong temple in Taiwan dedicated to his arrival in Taiwan. Today, every year on the 15th day of the second lunar month, during the birthday of Yue Fei, Datang Village holds grand ceremonies, with many villagers rushing to the Jingzhong Temple to worship King Wu Mu Yue. The Jingzhong Temple has become the center of faith for the villagers of Datang, enduring through the years.
