Wang Family Temple Introduction
The Wang Family Ancestral Hall in Taibao City, Taibao Li, honors Wang Delu, who was appointed as the Vice Admiral during the Qing Dynasty, along with his wife and the ancestral spirits of the Wang family. Wang Delu was born in Taibao City and was the highest-ranking Taiwanese official of his time, known for his significant achievements and a source of pride for the people of Taibao. The residence of General Wang is located at 540 Dunhua Road, Taibao City, and the current Wang Family Ancestral Hall was originally his admiral's office. In 1963, the descendants of General Wang invested NT$800,000 to renovate it into the Wang Family Ancestral Hall. The structure of the Wang Family Ancestral Hall is grand and impressive, containing artifacts from Wang Delu’s life, including his clothing, daggers, swords, daily utensils, ancestral tablets, and some stone carvings from the old residence, such as the twelve zodiac animals, stone tables in the garden, and a flagpole outside. Due to Wang Delu having married ten wives during his lifetime and his many descendants living in different places, it has been difficult to collect family relics. As a result, not many items can be displayed in the ancestral hall; most related artifacts and documents are only presented in photos or photocopies, including records of his military exploits, petitions during the Qing era, and royal edicts. The hall also features portraits of Mr. and Mrs. Wang, as well as several ancient couplets from the Daoguang to Xianfeng periods. Outside the ancestral hall, there is a finely crafted garden and a traditional orange-red courtyard. The management of the Wang Family Ancestral Hall rotates among its descendants every two years, and ceremonies are held annually during Qingming Festival, Lunar New Year, and on the 21st day of the fifth lunar month to celebrate Wang Delu's birthday.
