Deyuan Zen Temple Introduction
Deyuan Zen Temple, originally named Guanyin Temple, is located on the south side of Wu Feng's former residence in the Qinghua Mountain area of Chiayi County. It was established in the 5th year of the Qianlong reign in the Qing Dynasty and was renamed Deyuan Zen Temple after being renovated by the monk Yimin. According to legend, during the 5th year of the Qianlong reign, there was a girl named Xing Shui who saw through the transient nature of the world. Deyuan Zen Temple, originally called "Qinghua Mountain Guanyin Pavilion," is situated halfway up Qinghua Mountain, on the roadside south of Wu Feng's former residence, easily accessible by following the signposts. The temple is a traditional "Sanheyuan" (three-section courtyard) layout, with the main hall in the center dedicated to the worship of Shakyamuni Buddha, exuding a solemn and dignified atmosphere. Ascending the steps to the main hall, there are two white elephants standing guard on either side, and beside the main hall are wings and meditation rooms. Behind the hall, there are avocado trees personally planted by the nuns, surrounded by lush greenery, creating a pleasant scenery. Due to its tranquil environment and unique architectural style resembling a Sanheyuan, with a front courtyard richly planted with flowers, guests can enter the Great Buddha Hall to pay homage to Shakyamuni Buddha, where the statue's appearance is solemn and respectful. To the right of the dragon guardian is a lush green lawn, with the Qinghua Mountain Deyuan Zen Academy and Zhengyan Library located in front, making it a popular tourist destination.
