Sheng'en Temple Introduction
In the Sheng'en Temple located in Taibao City, Chiayi County, the deity worshiped is the Guanyin Bodhisattva from Mount Putuo in Zhejiang Province. It is said that the management committee of Sheng'en Temple followed the instructions of the Three Bodhisattvas to bring the Bodhisattva back to the temple for protection during the period from 1989 to 1991. The temple has devotees from both domestic and overseas, with notable visitors such as Mr. Mori Masami from Japan and Dr. Ke Wenzhong from Hawaii, who always visit Sheng'en Temple to pay their respects when they come to Taiwan. In 1987, Sheng'en Temple built the Paramita Lecture Hall on the right side of the temple to promote Buddhism. Every detail within, including the plants, bricks, tiles, wall decorations, and floor patterns, is said to have originated from the Bodhisattva's guidance. In 1995, the temple successively renovated the Nine-Grade Lotus Gate and the Sutra Repository of the Paramita Lecture Hall. The construction of the Paramita Lecture Hall was completed in June of the same year, and by 2000, the Sutra Repository was officially completed. Sheng'en Temple boasts a beautiful and solemn environment, featuring the Bagua Gate, Lotus Pool, Sun and Moon Pavilion, Paramita Lecture Hall, Yuan Tong Building, and North and South Pole Gates, among others. The design reflects creativity and thoughtfulness, distinguishing it from typical temple architecture. On the first and fifteenth of each month, the Sheng'en Temple's Good Fortune Association conducts teachings for devotees, and an annual national invocation and memorial service is held on September 19.
