Niuchouwan Wetland Ecological Park Introduction
Niu Tiao Bay Pond was constructed during the Japanese colonial period, originally intended for irrigation and water conservation, covering an area of over ten hectares with abundant aquatic resources. However, as environmental changes occurred alongside a lack of management, the area became dirty and chaotic, severely impacting the local ecological environment, with its size reduced to only 6.3 hectares. Subsequently, through the active mobilization of local residents and the cooperation of municipal governments, the area underwent a thorough renovation between 2003 and 2004 with the goal of creating a "blue Niu Tiao Bay, a new paradise for fishing; a green Niu Tiao Bay, a beautiful new world; revitalizing Niu Tiao Bay, a friendly new community." This project included the construction of a waterfront plaza, garden lighting, observation decks, a lakeside wooden walkway, and greening efforts, encompassing approximately 3 hectares. Thanks to these collective efforts, the current Niu Tiao Bay Pond has transformed into a beautiful new space, providing local residents with a great place for leisure and gatherings, boosting the nearby tourism industry, promoting rural leisure ecology in the area, and renewing the focus on local aquatic resources, which has enhanced the quality of life for the community.
