Embroidery Cultural Museum Introduction
Zaoqi City in Chiayi County was once a hub for the embroidery industry, and the flourishing conditions of that time are reflected in the large quantity of exported embroidered products from Zaoqi City, including Eight Immortals designs, door curtains, pillowcases, bed sheets, puppetry costumes, folk opera costumes, and bridal dowries, with sales reaching all over Taiwan. To preserve and promote this outstanding local cultural characteristic, the Zaoqi City Office has been dedicated to the promotion of embroidery since 2002, establishing the Chiayi County Embroidery Cultural Association, offering workshops for embroidery teaching, and, with the support of the Ministry of Culture, building the Embroidery Cultural Museum. The Embroidery Cultural Museum was originally an unused space of the local ship team office and has been transformed from a wooden Japanese dormitory, rich in historical significance and in harmony with the concept of embroidery culture. The museum documents the prosperous development of Zaoqi City's embroidery industry in the past and collects many meticulously crafted, breathtaking embroidered artworks. Through interactive learning within the entire industry, the Embroidery Cultural Museum recreates a strong local culture, combines community activities, promotes various cultural tourism, and has become a notable tourist attraction.
