Datan Wetland Introduction
Datan Wetland Ecological Park is located to the northeast of Dapeng Bay, adjacent to Provincial Highway 17 and at the southern edge of the Datan Community. This area has a lower elevation which makes it prone to flooding, so it has been planned as an ecological flood detention pond combined with an artificial wetland treatment system. During the rainy season, it serves as a flood detention area, while in the non-rainy season, it can treat household wastewater, aquaculture wastewater from the Datan Community, non-point source pollution from Provincial Highway 17, and some household wastewater from Dapeng Village. The wetland park covers an area of 6 hectares, with features including inflow points on the east and west sides, sedimentation ponds, subsurface flow filtration ponds (with filtration media consisting of waste bricks, concrete blocks, gravel, and oyster shells), marsh areas, shallow water areas, ecological islands, deep water areas, and outflow points. Based on the classification of artificial wetlands during heavy rainfall runoff, the Datan Wetland is categorized as between an extended retention type and a bag-type. The wetland is home to bird species such as the Black-winged Stilt, Little Egret, Cattle Egret, Kentish Plover, Eastern Kentish Plover, Marsh Sandpiper, and Brown Crake.
