Shimen Pass Introduction
To reach Haiyin Temple, one must first pass through an arched stone gate known as Shimen Pass, one of the twelve wonders of Ta Wu Mountain. Shimen Pass is constructed from solid and neatly arranged granite, topped with a reverse-curved roof, with gently upturned corners that give it a sense of elegance. The horizontal plaque bears the characters "The First of Hai Shan," handwritten by the loyal minister Lu Ruoteng of the Ming Dynasty, and is currently designated as a county historic site.
