Shimen Pass Introduction
To reach Haiyin Temple, one must first pass through an arched stone gate known as Shimen Pass, which is one of the twelve wonders of Mount Taiwu. Shimen Pass is constructed of solid and neatly arranged granite stones, topped with a vaulted roof, and has slightly curved eaves at each corner, giving it a light and elegant beauty. The horizontal plaque bears the characters "The First of Sea and Mountain," handwritten by the loyal minister Lu Ruoteng from the Ming Dynasty, and is currently designated as a county-level historical site.
