Shimen Pass Introduction
To reach Haiyin Temple, one must first pass through an arched stone gate, known as Shimen Pass, which is one of the twelve extraordinary sights of Mount Taiwu. Shimen Pass is constructed of solid and neatly arranged granite, topped with a reverse-curved roof, with the corners slightly raised, giving it an elegance; the horizontal plaque bears the four characters "First in Haishan," handwritten by the loyal minister Lu Ruoteng of the Ming Dynasty, and is now designated as a county-level historic site.
