Shimen Pass Introduction
To reach Haiyin Temple, one must first pass through an arch-shaped stone gate known as Shimen Pass, which is one of the Twelve Wonders of Mount Taiwu. Shimen Pass is built with solid and well-crafted granite, topped with a reverse-hipped roof, with slightly upturned corners that give it a sense of gracefulness. The horizontal plaque features the four characters "Haisan First," handwritten by the Ming Dynasty loyal minister Lu Ruoteng, and is now designated as a county-level historical monument.
