Haiyin Temple Introduction
Haiyin Temple, built during the Song Dynasty, has a history of over 800 years. It is located at the depression on the summit of Mount Taiwu, formerly known as Taiwu Rock Temple. The shape of Mount Taiwu resembles a reclined hermit when viewed from a distance, and it is described in folklore as a land of spiritual energy, akin to "the immortal resting on the ground." The Haiyin Temple, built on this site, is quite popular for its worship activities. Every year on the ninth day of the first lunar month, "Tian Gong Sheng," residents of Kinmen climb the mountain with their families to worship at Haiyin Temple, making it a significant religious festival in Kinmen. Adjacent to the temple are the Bell and Drum Towers named Long Tower and Phoenix Pavilion. The water from the mountain spring in the Moon-Dipping Pool in front of the temple is clear and sweet. The large bronze bell in the bell tower weighs over 750 kilograms, and it is said that "its sound can be heard 30 kilometers away," painting a picture of hidden temples in the mountains. Visitors to Haiyin Temple often come to glimpse the Shimen Pass inscribed with "Haishan First" and the Anxin Stone, believed to harbor dragon veins and bring peace to people's hearts.
