Haiyin Temple Introduction
Haiyin Temple, built during the Song Dynasty, has a history of over 800 years. Located at the top of Mount Taiwu, it was formerly known as Taiwu Rock Temple. The shape of Mount Taiwu resembles a reclining hermit when viewed from afar, leading locals to describe it as a place where "the immortal lies down," attributing it with spiritual energy. The Haiyin Temple, built upon it, attracts many visitors, especially during the ninth day of the Lunar New Year, known as "Tian Gong Sheng," when residents of Kinmen take their elders and children to the temple to pay their respects, making it a significant religious festival in Kinmen. Beside the temple, there are bell and drum towers named Long Tower and Phoenix Pavilion. The moonlit pool in front of the temple features clear and sweet spring water, and the large bronze bell in the bell tower weighs over 750 kilograms, with the legend that its sound can be heard 30 miles away. The picturesque scene of the hidden temple in the mountains speaks for itself. Visitors come to Haiyin Temple, often to see the stone gate inscribed with "Hai Mountain First," as well as the legend of the Anxin Stone, said to harbor a dragon's energy and bring peace of mind.
