Haiyin Temple Introduction
Haein Temple, built during the Song Dynasty, has a history of over 800 years. It is located at the dip of Mount Taiwu, historically known as Taiwu Rock Temple. The shape of Mount Taiwu, when viewed from a distance, resembles a reclining hermit, and locals describe it as a place where "immortals lie down," imbuing it with a spiritual aura. The Haein Temple, situated on this auspicious mountain, thrives with worship; every year on the ninth day of the lunar new year, the residents of Kinmen climb the mountain to pay their respects at Haein Temple, making it a significant religious festival in Kinmen. Beside the temple stand the bell and drum towers known as Long Tower and Phoenix Pavilion. The Moon Dipping Pool in front of the temple holds crystal-clear spring water. Inside the bell tower, a large bronze bell weighs over 750 kilograms, with the legend that "the sound of the bell can be heard 30 miles away." The scene of the hidden temple in the mountains speaks for itself. Visitors come to Haein Temple, often to glimpse the stone gate inscribed with "the first in Haishan" and the reassuring stone, said to be imbued with dragon veins that bring peace to people's hearts.
