Haiyin Temple Introduction

Haiyin Temple, built during the Song Dynasty, has a history of over 800 years. It is located at the top of Mount Taiwu and was originally known as Taiwu Rock Temple. From a distance, the shape of Mount Taiwu resembles a reclined hermit, and locals describe it as a place where "immortals lay down," possessing a spiritual aura. The Haiyin Temple, built on this sacred ground, has a flourishing incense offering. On the ninth day of the first lunar month, which marks "the birthday of the Jade Emperor," residents of Kinmen take their elders and children up the mountain to worship at Haiyin Temple, making it a significant religious festival in Kinmen. Flanking the temple are the bell and drum towers known as Dragon Tower and Phoenix Pavilion. The spring water in the Moon-Dipping Pond in front of the temple is clear and sweet. The large bell in the bell tower weighs over 750 kilograms, and it is said that its sound can be heard for 30 miles. The scene of the hidden temple in the mountains speaks for itself. Visitors to Haiyin Temple often come to catch a glimpse of the Stone Gate inscribed with "First of the Sea Mountain" and the peaceful stone, which is believed to harbor dragon veins and bring tranquility to people's hearts.
