Jinshui Elementary School Introduction

The Huang family in the Shuitou settlement places a strong emphasis on education. As the number of students in the settlement increased, the original family temple serving as a lecture hall became insufficient. Therefore, the Huang family proposed the construction of a school, and with the joint funding from the overseas Chinese community of Shuitou, Jinshui Elementary School was established in 1932. Jinshui Elementary School was designed in a traditional academy layout resembling the character "回" (hui), commonly known as a "fanzi" house, and at the time was the largest and newest Western-style elementary school in all of Kinmen. The school features an exquisite façade adorned with angels symbolizing purity and eagles soaring high; the interior is constructed with red brick columns, symbolizing "focus" in its homophone. Every detail reflects the hopes placed upon the students.
