Huang Hui Huang Mansion Introduction
The Huang Hui Huang Mansion, built by the Huang family in Shuitou, stands out as the most spectacular Western-style building in the area. The Deyue Building is part of this mansion. The facade of the mansion features small lion and angel sculptures, along with additional clay sculptures created by craftsmen from Kinmen, including peacocks, curling grass, flowers and birds, elephants, butterflies, and a double dragon snatching a pearl motif on the main beams. Among the exterior decorations of the mansion is an inscription that reads "Year 20 of the Republic of China," which indicates the year of construction. Additionally, there is a clock at the highest point showing "12:40," symbolizing the message to future generations that while others take their lunch break at noon, they should only rest at 12:40. This encourages descendants to work harder and be more diligent than others in order to achieve success.
