Huang Hui-Huang Western House Introduction
The National Park Administration of the Ministry of the Interior is currently conducting renovation work on the ShuiTou De Yue Building, Huang Hui-Huang Western-style Building, and Shan Hou Celebration Hall, and these venues are temporarily closed due to the ongoing construction. They are expected to reopen by the end of September 2025. Among the Western-style buildings built by the Huang family of ShuiTou, the Huang Hui-Huang Building is the most spectacular, as the De Yue Building is part of the Huang Hui-Huang Building. The front facade of the building features small lions and angel sculptures, while other decorative elements include peacocks, curling grasses, flowers and birds, elephants, butterflies, and mud sculptures of two dragons grabbing a pearl on the main beam, all crafted by artisans from Kinmen. The exterior decorations of the building bear the inscription "Year 20 of the Republic of China," indicating the period when the building was constructed. Additionally, a clock at the highest point shows "12:40," primarily intended to remind future generations that while others take a break at noon, they should not rest until 12:40, encouraging descendants to work harder and be more diligent than others in order to achieve success.
