Victory Gate Introduction

The Victory Gate is a striking white arch-shaped building located at the intersection of Xiaojinmen Lake and Xiacun Road, serving as an important visual landmark for tourists on Lieyu. This memorial gate was originally the site of the "823 Counteroffensive Memorial," shaped like a cannonball, commemorating the resolute defense and courageous battle of the National Army against over 260,000 artillery shells during the 1958 Battle of the 823, ultimately leading to a glorious victory. Today, the Victory Gate not only symbolizes Xiaojinmen's indomitable spirit amidst the flames of war but also reminds the world of the vital role this small island played in defending the Taiwan Strait. The arch design is simple and solemn, and its white shape represents peace, making it a must-visit photo spot for many travelers upon arriving in Xiaojinmen.
