Victory Gate Introduction

Victory Gate is a prominent white arched structure located at the intersection of Xiaojinmen Lake Lower Village Road, serving as an important visual landmark for visitors in Lieyu. This commemorative gate was originally the site of the "823 Bombardment Memorial," shaped like a shell, built to commemorate the fierce attack during the 1958 823 Artillery Battle when the Nationalist army bravely defended their position against over 260,000 enemy shells, ultimately achieving a glorious victory. Today, Victory Gate not only symbolizes Xiaojinmen's steadfast spirit during wartime but also reminds the world of the significant role this small island played in defending the Taiwan Strait. The design of the arch is simple and solemn, with its white appearance representing peace, making it a must-visit photo spot for many travelers stepping onto Xiaojinmen.
