Nanshan Four Camps Introduction
Nanshan Tou Military Base, which opened for visits in early 2018, is the southernmost coastal military installation in Lieyu. The base features two fortresses, seven underground gun emplacements, and one command center, with tunnels that are also a highlight, extending three stories deep and showcasing a unique structure and flow compared to many other tunnels in Kinmen. The base includes specially designed interactive experiences within its military buildings, allowing visitors to learn about history through games, blending education and entertainment. The stunning blue sea outside the base also attracts tourists, as there were once concerns about enemy bombings or stealth landings, but the surveillance windows have now become excellent observation points. Visitors can also step outside the fort to get close to Kinmen's only basalt terrain, with the varied rock layers contrasting beautifully with the ocean's waves, making the sea a rich part of the travel experience in Kinmen.
