Bunun Tribe Leisure Farm Introduction
In 1984, Pastor Bai Guangsheng, embodying the spirit of sowing seeds, returned to his hometown in Yanping Township, Taitung County to serve. In 1994, he began to consider a model that balances the inheritance of indigenous culture with economic vitality. The following year, with the assistance of the Eden Social Welfare Foundation, he successfully established the first indigenous-founded "Bunun Cultural and Educational Foundation." Located in Tao Yuan Village, Taitung County, the Bunun Tribal Cultural Park operates in a way that allows visitors to experience indigenous lifestyles, cultural heritage, and leisure industries. This initiative aims to rebuild indigenous culture and restore the confidence of indigenous people while providing opportunities for others to appreciate indigenous culture. The entire park serves as a comprehensive leisure farm that brings together traditional indigenous arts and culture, making it highly appealing to tourists. The park currently features areas that include two performances daily at the "Bunun Tribe Theater" (at 10:30 AM and 2:00 PM; performances may be canceled if there are fewer than 30 visitors, so it's recommended to call in advance to confirm). Behind the theater, there is a "Special Products Center" that offers homemade agricultural products from local residents, such as millet wine, essential oils, bamboo charcoal products, handmade soaps, juices, jams, and pan-fried peanuts, as well as vibrant indigenous creative crafts. Dining options include a specialty restaurant and a café, both rich in indigenous artistic flair. The wooden tables and chairs are uniquely designed, while the roof features a mix of colors and patterns inspired by Bunun weaving. Situated in a high valley with an expansive view, dining here creates a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere. In addition to delicious indigenous cuisine, visitors can enjoy lively Bunun music performances and purchase unique local souvenirs. The park also offers accommodations in tribe homestays, allowing guests to deeply immerse themselves in the local Bunun way of life and engage in enriching activities offered by the park.
