Bunun Tribe Leisure Farm Introduction
In 1984, Pastor Bai Guangsheng returned to his hometown of Yanping Township in Taitung County with the spirit of sowing seeds. In 1994, he began to think about a model that balances the inheritance of indigenous culture and economic vitality. The following year, with the assistance of the Eden Social Welfare Foundation, he successfully established the first indigenous-led "Bunun Cultural and Educational Foundation." The Bunun Tribal Cultural Park, located in Taoyuan Village, Taitung County, operates in the form of a Bunun community, allowing visitors to experience indigenous lifestyles, cultural heritage, and leisure industries, thus rebuilding indigenous culture and regaining the confidence of the indigenous people. It also provides opportunities for people to appreciate indigenous culture. Therefore, the entire park is a comprehensive leisure farm that integrates traditional indigenous arts and culture, rich in tourism features. Currently, the planned areas of the park include two daily performances (AM 10:30, PM 2:00) at the "Bunun Tribal Theater" (if there are fewer than 30 visitors, performances will not be held; it is recommended to call in advance to inquire about performances). Behind the theater is the "Special Products Center," which offers locally made agricultural products such as millet wine, essential oils, bamboo charcoal products, handmade essential oil soaps, fruit juices, jams, and hand-fried peanuts, as well as vibrant indigenous creative crafts. Dining options include a themed restaurant and a café, showcasing rich indigenous artistic flair. The wooden tables and chairs are carved from raw wood, with each design surprising visitors, and the roof features mixed colors of Bunun woven fabrics. The environment here is situated high above a valley, providing a wide view, and dining here offers a relaxed atmosphere. In addition to delicious indigenous flavor dishes, lively and pleasant Bunun music performances, and unique local souvenirs, the park also offers tribal homestays, allowing guests to experience the local living environment of the Bunun people more profoundly, along with a variety of exciting activities in the park.
