Bunun Tribe Leisure Farm Introduction
In 1984, Pastor Bai Guangsheng returned to his hometown, Yanping Township in Taitung County, carrying the spirit of planting seeds. In 1994, he began contemplating a model that balances the inheritance of indigenous culture and economic vitality. The following year, with the help of the Eden Social Welfare Foundation, he successfully established the first "Bunun Cultural and Educational Foundation" formed by indigenous people. The Bunun Tribal Cultural Park, located in Taoyuan Village, Taitung County, operates in the form of a Bunun tribe, allowing visitors to experience the lifestyle, cultural inheritance, and leisure industry of indigenous people. This park aims to reconstruct indigenous culture and regain the confidence of indigenous people, while also providing opportunities for people to understand indigenous culture. Therefore, the entire park combines traditional indigenous arts and culture into a comprehensive leisure farm, rich in tourism characteristics. Planned areas in the park currently include daily performances at the "Bunun Tribal Theater" (at 10:30 AM and 2:00 PM; if fewer than 30 guests, the show may be canceled, so it is recommended to call to inquire about performances on the day); behind the performance theater is the "Specialty Center," offering locally made agricultural products by residents such as millet wine, essential oils, bamboo charcoal products, handmade soap, fruit juices, jams, and hand-fried peanuts, as well as vibrant indigenous creative crafts. Additionally, the dining options include a specialty restaurant and a café, both rich in indigenous artistic atmosphere; the tables and chairs are made of wood, with each design offering surprises, while the roof features a mix of colors and patterns from Bunun woven fabrics. The environment here is located high in the valley, with a broad view that creates a relaxed and comfortable dining atmosphere. Along with delicious indigenous gourmet dishes, lively and pleasant Bunun music performances, and the option to purchase unique and tasty souvenirs, the park also offers tribal homestays. Arranging to stay here allows for a deeper experience of the local living environment of the Bunun people and a rich variety of activities in the park.
