Bunun Tribe Leisure Farm Introduction
In 1984, Pastor Bai Guangsheng returned to his hometown in Yanping Township, Taitung County, with the spirit of planting seeds. In 1994, he began to contemplate a model that balances the inheritance of indigenous culture and economic vitality. The following year, with the assistance of the Eden Social Welfare Foundation, he successfully established the first "Bunun Cultural Foundation" founded by indigenous people. The Bunun Tribal Cultural Park, located in Taoyuan Village, Taitung County, operates in the model of the Bunun community, allowing visitors to experience indigenous lifestyles, cultural heritage, and leisure industries. This aims to rebuild indigenous culture and restore indigenous people's confidence, while also providing opportunities for visitors to appreciate indigenous culture. The entire park is an integrated leisure farm that combines traditional indigenous arts and cultural tourism features. Currently, the park plans to hold "Bunun Tribal Theater" performances twice daily (10:30 AM and 2:00 PM). If there are fewer than 30 visitors, performances may be canceled, so it is advisable to call ahead to inquire about the day's schedule. Behind the theater, there is a "Specialty Center" that offers locally made agricultural products from residents, such as millet wine, essential oils, bamboo charcoal products, handmade essential oil soap, fruit juices, jams, and hand-fried peanuts, along with vibrant indigenous creative arts and crafts. The dining options include a flavor restaurant and a café, both rich in indigenous artistic flair, with tables and chairs intricately carved from wood, each design surprising visitors. The roof features a mix of colors and patterns from Bunun weaving. The environment is located high in the valley, providing a vast view, creating a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere for dining. In addition to delicious indigenous cuisine, lively and pleasant Bunun music performances, and unique and tasty souvenirs available for purchase, the park also offers tribal accommodations. Arranging a stay here allows for a deeper experience of the local Bunun lifestyle and rich and exciting activities within the park.
