Bunun Tribe Recreational Farm Introduction
In 1984, Pastor Bai Guangsheng returned to his hometown in Yanping Township, Taitung County, embodying the spirit of sowing seeds. In 1994, he began to contemplate a model that balanced the inheritance of indigenous culture and economic vitality. The following year, with the assistance of the Eden Social Welfare Foundation, he successfully established the first indigenous-run "Bunun Cultural and Educational Foundation." Located in Taoyuan Village, Taitung County, the Bunun Tribe Cultural Park operates in a manner that allows visitors to experience indigenous lifestyles, cultural heritage, and leisure industries. This initiative aims to reconstruct indigenous culture and restore the confidence of the indigenous people, while also providing opportunities for others to appreciate indigenous culture. As a result, the entire park is a comprehensive leisure farm that integrates traditional indigenous arts and culture, rich in tourism characteristics. Currently, the park is planned to host two performances of the "Bunun Tribe Theater" daily (at 10:30 AM and 2:00 PM), with a note that performances may be canceled if there are fewer than 30 guests, so it is advised to call ahead to inquire about the day's performances. Behind the performance theater, a "Specialty Center" offers locally produced agricultural products such as millet wine, essential oils, bamboo charcoal products, handmade soaps, juices, jams, and freshly roasted peanuts, along with vibrant indigenous creative arts and crafts. Additionally, there are dining options available, including a themed restaurant and a café, both showcasing indigenous artistic flair. The tables and chairs, sculpted from wood, feature surprising designs, and the roof is adorned with colorful patterns of Bunun woven fabrics. The park's environment is situated in a lofty valley with expansive views, providing a relaxed dining atmosphere. Alongside delicious indigenous cuisine, lively Bunun music performances, and the option to purchase unique souvenirs, the park also offers tribal homestays. If visitors choose to stay here, they can gain a deeper experience of the local living environment and participate in a variety of rich and exciting park activities.
