Yuanming Steamed Egg Cake Introduction

Yuan Ming Steamed Cake, located next to Cheng Huang Temple, is a family-owned business that has been in operation for 52 years and is now in its third generation. Originally established on Wuchang Street, it later moved to Zhongshan Road. As the name suggests, steamed cake is made using steam, which makes it different from the baked cakes commonly found in the market. It retains a delicate, soft, and fluffy texture, with a lighter flavor that isn't greasy, and carries a nostalgic taste. The amount of sugar used is also lower, making it a healthy food option that appeals to both young and old. Initially, the steamed cake was famously flavored with "red bean," and later flavors such as papaya, strawberry, taro, and braised pork were introduced. Yuan Ming Bakery is well-known for its "steamed cake," which is healthy, delicious, and traditional, satisfying countless discerning palates for over six decades. In contrast, Western-style cakes use large amounts of butter, chocolate, spices, and artificial additives, resulting in a rich taste with astonishing calories. Yuan Ming Bakery’s steamed cake is made using ancient methods, with only three ingredients: flour, eggs, and sugar. The fragrant steam creates a soft, fluffy texture without any greasiness.
