Chiayi Ge Restaurant

Taipei Foods

The two brothers, Wang Jiayi and Wang Shuicheng, who opened the culinary origins of Shenkeng Old Street, started with a noodle stall at the temple entrance in their early years. Later, the younger brother Wang Shuicheng’s tofu shop at the Shenkeng Temple became famous far and wide, while the highly skilled elder brother Wang Jiayi, known for "Jiayi Pavilion," also made a name for himself in the old street with his tofu delicacies. The cooking method for Shenkeng tofu avoids the use of yellow soybeans, resulting in a slightly charred flavor when simmered at the bottom. Dishes such as braised tofu and tofu soup have a unique aroma, and their soft and smooth taste also makes them highly recommended by food connoisseurs.
