Chiayi Ge Xiaochi Dian Introduction
The two brothers, Wang Jiayi and Wang Shuicheng, who opened the culinary scene of Shenkeng Old Street, started a noodle stand at the temple in their early years. Later, the younger brother's famous Tofu King at Shenkeng Temple gained widespread recognition, while the skillful elder brother, Wang Jiayi, also made a name for himself with "Jiayi Pavilion" in the old street, specializing in tofu dishes. Shenkeng tofu is cooked in a way that does not use yellow bean curd; during the simmering process, it acquires a slightly burnt flavor from sinking to the bottom, resulting in a unique aroma when prepared as braised tofu or tofu soup. The soft and smooth taste also earns high recommendations from food experts.
