The origins of the culinary delights at Shenkeng Old Street can be traced back to the brothers Wang Jiayi and Wang Shuicheng. In their early years, they opened a noodle stall at the temple entrance, and later, the younger brother Wang Shuicheng's tofu shop became extremely famous. The skillful older brother Wang Jiayi runs "Jiayi Pavilion," which also gained a remarkable reputation for its tofu dishes in the old street. The unique cooking method for Shenkeng tofu involves not removing the soybean curds during the cooking process, resulting in a slightly charred flavor when boiled, giving dishes like braised tofu and tofu soup a distinct aroma and a tender, smooth taste that is highly recommended by food connoisseurs.
