When you arrive at Tamsui, many people will enjoy a cup of traditional sour plum tea. Each shop has its own unique flavor, but the Xingle sour plum, made from locally sourced plums from Nantou, has even attracted coverage from the Japanese magazine "Jalan," and is popular among both Japanese tourists and locals. Originally, Xingle was Tamsui's first stationery store, a small shop that sold a little bit of everything. However, with the arrival of large shopping malls and changes in consumer habits, Xu Sulian, a daughter-in-law from Nantou, introduced hand-made plums from her family to transform it into a specialty store for sour plum tea and plum products. The products in the store do not contain saccharin or preservatives, are natural and healthy, and are neither sticky nor overly salty. In addition to the sour plum tea brewed with perilla plums, low-salt preserved plums and perilla plums are also very popular. Last spring, Xingle Sour Plum underwent renovations, with Xu Sulian's daughter, who is studying interior design, personally leading the redesign, along with her son's assistance, to create custom display cabinets and a stand at the entrance. The bright style has transformed the shop's previously dark and cluttered image, resulting in a noticeable increase in business. The next step is to revamp the product packaging, making the products not only genuine quality ingredients but also visually appealing to attract tourists to taste this authentic good flavor.
