Hsing Lung Sour Plum Introduction
When visiting Tamsui, many people enjoy a cup of traditional sour plum soup. Each store has its own unique flavor, but the Xinglong sour plum, made from locally sourced plums from Nantou, has caught the attention of Japanese magazine "Showa Maps," attracting many Japanese and local customers. Originally the first stationery store in Tamsui, Xinglong started out as a small shop that sold various items. With the arrival of large shopping malls and changing consumer habits, Nantou native Hsu Su-Lian introduced handmade plums from her family, transforming the store into a specialty shop for sour plum soup and plum products. The products in the store do not contain artificial sweeteners or preservatives, ensuring they are natural and healthy, with neither a sticky nor overly salty taste. In addition to the sour plum tea brewed with perilla plums, low-salt preserved plums and perilla plums are also very popular. Last spring, Xinglong sour plum underwent a redesign, with Hsu Su-Lian's daughter, a graduate student in interior design, personally overseeing the project, while her son assisted. They created a bright style that transformed the store's previously dark and cluttered image, resulting in a noticeable increase in business. The next step is to repackage the products, making them not only truly high-quality but also visually appealing to attract tourists to savor this authentic taste. Recommended products: low-salt preserved plums, perilla plums.
