Hsing Lung Sour Plum Introduction
When visiting Tamsui, many people enjoy a cup of traditional sour plum soup. Each establishment offers a different flavor, but the Xinglong sour plum, made from homegrown plums in Nantou, has even attracted the attention of the Japanese magazine "Shobunsha," gaining popularity among both Japanese customers and locals. The handmade plums from Nantou have transformed into a local favorite, "Xinglong," which originally began as Tamsui's first stationery store. Initially a shop selling a variety of items, the business shifted focus when large shopping malls came to Tamsui and consumer habits changed. Nantou bride Xu Sulian introduced handmade plums from her family, transforming the shop into a specialty store for sour plum soup and plum products. The products don’t contain saccharin or preservatives, making them natural and healthy, without being overly sticky or too salty. In addition to sour plum tea brewed with perilla plums, low-salt preserved plums, perilla plums, and preserved plums are also very popular. Last spring, Xinglong sour plum underwent renovations, executed by Xu Sulian’s daughter, who is studying interior design, with the help of her son. They custom-designed display cabinets and the stall at the entrance, creating a bright style that completely transformed the previously dim and cluttered image of the store. Business has significantly improved, and the next step is to update the product packaging, ensuring that the products not only represent high quality but also have an attractive appearance to entice tourists to savor this authentic delicacy. Recommended products: low-salt preserved plums, perilla plums.
