Hsing Lung Sour Plum

Taipei Foods

In Tamsui, many people enjoy a cup of traditional sour plum soup. Each shop has its own flavor variations, among which Xinglong sour plum, made from plums sourced from Nantou, has attracted attention from the Japanese magazine "Chowoo-sha," gaining popularity among both Japanese visitors and locals. The handmade plums from Nantou transformed into Tamsui's local flavor "Xinglong," which originally started as Tamsui's first stationery store, a small shop that sold various items. As large shopping malls arrived in Tamsui and consumer habits changed, Nantou native Xu Suluan introduced handmade plums from her family, transforming the shop into a specialty store for sour plum soup and plum products. The products in the store do not contain artificial sweeteners or preservatives, making them natural and healthy, and they are neither sticky nor overly salty. In addition to sour plum tea made with perilla plums, low-salt preserved plums and perilla plums are also very popular. Last spring, Xinglong sour plum underwent a renovation, personally designed by Xu Suluan's daughter, who is studying interior design, with help from her son. Custom display cabinets and a bright entrance were created to replace the old dim and cluttered image of the shop, resulting in a noticeable increase in business. The next step is to redesign the packaging of the products, ensuring that they are not only genuinely good ingredients but also visually appealing to attract tourists to taste this authentic flavor. Recommended products: low-salt preserved plums, perilla plums.
