Taipower Guishan Power Plant Guishan Ice Pop

Taipei Foods

It's not unusual for Taiwan Sugar Corporation and Taiwan Salt Corporation to sell popsicles, but it's truly "cool" for a power plant to do so. The reason Guishan Power Plant sells "Guishan Popsicles" is that during the early construction of the facility, ice was needed during the concrete mixing process to ensure even cooling of the heat and to prevent cracks in the cement walls. The ice-making machine from back then still exists today. The power plant initially only intended to sell ice to satisfy employees' cravings, but word quickly spread, turning it into a hidden gem for many food lovers. *Open only from March to October each year.
